Had 6 Cameras, now only 2 are working.
I was very happy with Wyze Cameras until this. Stopped working 3x Wyze Cam v3 and
1 Cam Pan. Even had everything working with TineCamPro, Great features. I’ve Tried everything, iOS App settings, even manually flash the Firmware.
What ever you do TURN Auto Firmware Updates to OFF!!! If On, these a really good chance the will never work again. So I’m think about going with another company other than Wyze. I can’t afford to lose that many cameras. And they were All New except for one of them.
If Wyze has some secret fix, please let me know,
I’ve spent countless hours trying to get them working again. I was very happy with Wyze, but now very disappointed. There Firmware updates are not vetted.
Are you running 3rd party firmware on those cameras? If you tried to upgrade while running a 3rd party firmware, it will fail. You can try to remove the SD card and reboot the cam and see if you can continue with the upgrade process. But if not, you will need to update them using the SD card firmware recovery, which will restore their functionality.
Even if not running 3rd party firmware, some have had issues trying to upgrade from a very old version to the latest. But all have been successful using the SD card recovery in those cases.
No 3rd party firmware was ever used. They were new cameras and working, never been updated. But after auto update (apparently was enabled) and those cameras never recovered from auto update. Went to the Wyze support pages and followed the instructions on updating the SD card with the .bin file with each camera and still the iOS app doesn’t wouldn’t connect or identify the cameras. I usually avoid firmware updates for this very reason.
I even had the latest iOS App installed
Version 3.1.0 (6).
Can I send them to Wyze to take a look at what is happened to them?
Sometimes it takes a couple tries as the timing of the procedure is somewhat sensitive. Different cameras also have different instructions, just make sure you’re using a 32GB or less SD card freshly formatted to FAT32 with nothing on it other than the firmware. It should allow you to go straight to the newest firmware, but if you can’t seem to get it to take, you may want to try doing it in a couple steps, download the oldest available firmware and do that first, then the latest.
While turning off auto firmware updates is something that people may prefer to do, at some point you are going to have to update it when they update their security protocols, and if you haven’t been keeping up with updates, stuff like this can happen when it tries to make a big jump in firmware version.
