I’ve been on the phone and on chats with representatives who repeatedly reassure me that this problem is already resolved. It must be something on my end blah blah blah. I would love to invest in the paid plan for constant monitoring but I can’t understand how it would work any differently whenever clearly there’s an issue with wyze cloud services. Unless it’s a pay wall and you suddenly get great service when you subscribe. And in that case isn’t that some kind of class action suit brewing? Wyze seriously is screwing up here.
I recorded 71 events so far today since midnight. Of those 71 clips ONLY 4 PLAY. That’s 5% of clips. How am I supposed to feel safe in my home or my small business when I can’t even reliably catch a freaking bus going down the street let alone a shoplifter last week whose presence in the store in PLAIN VIEW OF THE CAMERA didn’t trigger a motion record??? I’m about done. I’ll hard reset everything again but this is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve invested too much into these things for them to stop working with no reasonable explanation.
If I were you I would invest in an SD card to do continuous recording so that when the event videos failed I could just look in the SD card.
Yeah that’s next on my list… But considering that I have to use the wyze app to access the recordings and that it’s so absolutely frustratingly glitchy, how can I even ensure that I can watch the videos? That’s my main issue - the entire wyze interface.
I never had an issue with loading the SD recording, and yeah, honestly I like that better than completely relying on a cloud server I have no control over to behave.
Revisiting this thread to report that the cloud playback issue is back with a vengeance.
For the last week or so I am UNABLE to play back any 12sec clip from the cloud AT ALL. Same ole familiar spinning wheel when I try to play back.
Playback from SD card is not a problem, whether on my wifi network, another wifi network, or over cellular data.
Wyze is the most UNRELIABLE product I’ve ever purchased.
I had some success by doing a hard restart on each one, unplugging them for a few seconds each. It’s been a few days and so far so good. But I’m not confident that it’ll be a long term fix as these issues seems to creep up again every couple days.
I’m definitely going to order some SD cards for backup though.
I’m monitoring my cameras while I’m away but had someone stop over they tried this a few times.
Didn’t help, unfortunately.
Basically none of my events work with the exception of the one I pay Cam Plus for. So the others are on lite and used to work, but now all I get is the spinning circle and I have to rely on the SD recording. However I have even found those stop just before the event.
I can’t see a fix here and no I am not resetting every camera, if that’s the solution then Wyze should consider an firmware upgrade that overcomes it.
I have 2 Wyze Cam V2s on Cam Plus Lite, and since I setup a rule to restart my Cams every few days, I haven’t seen this issue yet. It is not a “fix” from Wyze, but it makes my cameras work. Hope this helps.
I have to concede the point that a hard restart on one of my V2 cams may have temporally resolved the issue—went from all events not loading to only an occasional event not loading/playing. Both V2 cams have the issue but I only rely on one for notifications and quick cloud event viewing. Point is, I only tested the second V2 to confirm it had the same issue with not loading cloud stored event clips and it did/does. Again that said, I haven’t done tests on that second cam to verify if a hard restart helps alleviate the problem. Suggestion from IL1 to run a rule for periodic restarts is worth trying if, a camera restart is the same as a hard restart where the camera is physically disconnect from a power supply and powered on again since I know in my case, that seemed to help. This is the longest beta program I’ve ever been part of with any company, ever.
I’m not sure if the Restart camera button on the app works the same as power-cycling the V2, but in my 2+ years of owning and using my V2s, I don’t remember having to power-cycle them. I think I needed to re-setup one of them due to a bug in the UI and that was it.
Can’t say the same for my V3s and OG…
I did a hard restart a few weeks ago and while everything seemed to be working fine we’re back to the same old story. Vast majority of events don’t playback. I’ve installed SD cards in all cameras so at least there’s a fallback, but of course my husband is the admin and I’m only a shared user so I have absolutely no way of accessing any video unless he looks it up. Super super annoying. Overall this whole product should be better. I think at the end of the day it’s a pay wall. They want to force us to pay monthly fees to access our own footage. Ridiculous.
Although I don’t think Wyze would break their Cam Plus Lite code base on purpose, I can see them not wanting to invest in it in the long term as it is pretty much a free service. Until it is completely broken, I’m going to stick with my restart rule.
If you are the one who usually looks up the videos and reset cameras, I’d recommend you to be the admin and let your husband be the shared user. Mine doesn’t even bother to look at the cameras so I have total control.
Feel free to post on this forum or DM me if you have any questions.
Well these cameras are installed in a small business. We spend the same time here roughly so swapping admin roles doesn’t really matter either way. I used to be able to rely on snippets all day long but with events not working it’s useless.
Thanks for the replies, I ran through my cameras and carried out a manual app restart of the cameras. It seems to have made some difference with more events now being visible. I will have to monitor this and potentially investigate the Restart Rule as suggested by IL1
Again thanks for the replies.
My issue is that videos never play back on my iPhone. But I can play them fine on my Android phone. So it seems to be a video playback software bug. Their Android coders did it right.
I’ve been experiencing the same issue. For the past month or so, every event I try to load and watch appears to be loading, but then it freezes after a few seconds, with the loading wheel spinning endlessly. This happens with every event. However, I did notice that events play correctly when viewed from the Monitoring tab at the bottom, just not from the Events tab. This is happening on my OG cam and V3 cam.
