uhm, Send Eufy a pic of ir reflection and return your unit? May be Eufy will add the ir light off feature?
I never return anything functional. For IR, I don’t mind. They will probably add the option in a future update. Either put a tape if I put it behind a window, or put it somewhere else. My V2 does its job very well behind my front window.
Really like my eufy cams.
Prefer the wyze pan and tilt though for the full duplex audio and the invisible 940nm IR lights. It also has greater downward motion vs the eufy version. The Eufy is quite limited downwards but you can always mount upside down if needed.
Got another Q.
If no cloud, detected event is being recorded for how long to your local sd card?
is there any settings user can set their recording length. Wyze is 1 min , then 5 min cool down.
q2. I read there is almost 45 seconds delay in Live view. Wyze won this one with hardware acceleration.
The longuest event recorded on my sd card is 4:59 min, 5 sec cooldown and continue to record the same motion. No timed setting in the application.
The live viewing is around 1 secs delayed
If you talk about the end of the playback compared to the live viewing, it could be but I have not measured it.
your live view 2 seconds is from 2k or from pan2k
I read the delay is from 2k (non pan) . not 2kpro
2K pan. Don’t have received the non-pan yet.
About a second delay, just like an echo sound.
I use continuous recording so my SD card does not have events per se, although it does mark events. I have only one PTZ and 3 fixed cameras, as well as 2 of the battery powered 2K Pro’s and a battery doorbell camera.
Playback seems to be about 1 second delayed from real time.
Remember the 2KPros don’t have continuous recording as they are battery powered.
I also use continuous recording as I like that the events there are a different color (orange on blue). I would like that from the event tab, we could go directly to playback like Wyze at the event position.
True, another Wyze feature I would love to see Eufy incorporate.
For the playback features, Eufy is ahead of Wyze.
-Colored events on continuous recording.
-Adjustable speed (up to 16X)
-Since your events are marked in orange, you can jump to the next one or backwards. No needs to go to the events tab.
It is pretty easy to cycle through your events though with eufy each day. Just hit the forward and back buttons in playback mode and it will jump to the beginning of the next event. So it is easier to go into the playback and then cycle through the events that way.
Eufy app is so much better but yes a way to go the other way from events to playback would be nice.
This is what I said but you did it better😜
I broke down and ordered a 2k since been waiting Wyze on Wan free feature.
12s with a 5m cooldown is better than no free option, imho. Not everyone will know how to or want the added complexity of setting up RTSP or a NAS solution. I have 2 NAS boxes and I don’t even want to do it. If these are something that, as a consumer you want or require, then great, that’s a boon to the Eufy cameras for you. For me, it is unnecessary because I won’t use it.
Eufy presents no dead easy. free solution in app if you don’t want NAS/RTSP or want to pay for cloud storage (iCloud or Eufy Cloud) in any way.
Being able to potentially offer the authorities a short video of someone breaking into your space, damaging or snatching the camera itself in my opinion, is better than not having any recording at all.
Also, as mentioned, the accuracy of the Wyze cameras have been better. So has the reliability. This to me is par for the course and understandable since the Eufycams are new and going through growing pains. I’ve had the Eufy miss my wife coming in and going out of my home several times where the Wyze has never missed her in the same time period. I’ve noticed my Eufy PT camera rebooting on several occasions and seen chunks of footage missing from the 24/7 video, but I’m not here to nitpick. I’ve read the issues a lot of people have with their Wyze and microsd cards, etc. I have never had these issues. I’ve never had rebooting or shut down issues. I’ve never encountered missing footage, etc. and I have a bunch of the cameras so for, I am on the opposite side of people claiming that Wyze cameras are unreliable. I acknowledge the issue, but I don’t encounter them so all I can really say is, that sucks. The same way maybe you’ve never encountered missing motion detection footage with Eufy, etc.
I just want to give credit where credit is due and that is that I do very much appreciate the free 12s video that many people seem to now be turning their noses up at. This is one thing that is an advantage over these Eufy cams (and many other brands) for now.
Actually it does. It supports free SD card recording. 2 clicks and your done. Or if you are a HomeKit user you can use that option.
I guess if you want adventurous often
go with Wyze
It is everyone’s comfort zones and needs. Both Wyze and Eufy wil have their problems. just how many, how often and how quick they fix them.
I am waiting 4 my 2k and will share my opinion.
While I have not had the experience @neoprimal has had with either his Eufy or Wyze cameras, in fact the exact opposite, I have no reason to doubt his experience.
For comparison purposes I placed a Wyze V2 and a Eufy 2K Pro (the static one not the PTZ) next to each other on my back deck. Both were set to record to the SD card continuously. Additionally the Wyze was set for the free 12 second videos with 5 minute cool down.
After 48 hours I compared the 2. I started with the free 12 second event videos on the Wyze. There were 17 events over the 48 hours. 6 were false alarms, wind blown branches etc. 11 were real events of people and/or animals. Of the 11 events 9 were fully captured in the 12 seconds and 2 were not.
Eufy noted 27 events in the same timeframe. All 27 events were real people/animal events. No false alerts. It captured all 11 events the Wyze camera did plus 16 more that Wyze did not capture.
When I looked on the Wyze SD card video at the time stamps for the missing 16 events they were all there on the SD card. But not picked up as events. Only 2 events were in the cool down period of the Wyze camera.
If I had to manually scrub the Wyze SD card with no visual clues (remember Wyze did not see 16 events as events) I probably would have missed them. With Eufy I can view playback at 1x all the way to 16x playback speed.
So in short I am not overly convinced that Wyze’s algorithms are doing that great a job of distinguishing between people and bushes and shadows. Eufy I am sure misses some as well. None are perfect after all. And a lot has to do with the area the camera is looking in, the cameras position and even the sensitivity settings etc.
I have just received my non pan 2K. There is no options for groupings cams in Eufy. This means that there is no thumbnails live viewing. This function is very useful. A big big big + for Wyze.
For the zone detection, You can set 2 zones with multipoints in Eufy. They wins that one.
