DuoCam Doorbell - Think I just wasted $90 on something that does not work

I’m reluctant to do the updates to my 2 duos, they’re working almost “too perfect” for me at the moment. With Wyze history of challenges post-updates, I’ll sit this one out for a couple of weeks until feedback gives positive clearance to move forward with updating.

Why fix something that is not broken? :slightly_smiling_face:

I am not sure how anyone can say their doorbell camera is working…
I spent time moving my doorbell 18 inches up so I could power up my duo. Hade to route a channel for the extension wires and install a chime controller. End result is I have power and don’t have to worry about the battery, however I am back to my other problem that the camera doesn’t detect deliveries. I attached a photo where a package was left but no video of who, the video starts when the Amazon truck starts to drive off. Afterwards every time a vehicle passes I get a message I have a package… all night long. The cars are 60+ feet away. Had detection at 2, changed it to one… no difference. How can you detect a car 60 feet away with a detection of 1. Does everyone have porches not pointing to roads??? When there is no package the cars are disregarded because I have vehicle detection off. So now I am locked into cam plus if this issue is resolved. If I turn motion on I get notifications for leaves blowing, for shadows and reflections. I could deal with having to pay for cam plus if the dam thing worked. I am more concerned that someone can walk on the porch and not be detected but any car passing by is detected… what good is the camera… Now it is really a PITA to remove this thing and undo all the work I did.

My front doorbell duo does point to the road. I have huge row of hedges blocking my side of the road and have carved out a limited detection zone in the front. I rely on my driveway and walkway cams for necessary detection. The duo is for package delivery at the porch along with person detection of the delivery driver.

I removed the db v2’s, wired and attached the duos in the same location and voilà, I’m good to go. I had posted a suggestion of how to use existing screw holes to match on the duo mounting plate. Moving up 18" for power to install the duo seems a bit excessive. Why not use detection zone to carve out the flow of vehicles on the street? Perhaps some additional placement testing should have been performed before the permanent mounting. You have too much overhang in view above the walkway. Do you need the view all the way to the street Logistical mistakes that should have been avoided, if you don’t mind the constructive critique.

Since you have cam plus, you may want to consider installing a battery cam on the beam that’s crossing over the walkway pointed towards the door. Just a thought.
