Duo Cam Pan keeps drifting away from its set waypoints

Is there a fix for the new Duo cam pan that keeps drifting away from its set waypoints? Ive been calibrating every other hour to have it back to its set positions

Well… I doubt there’s an answer for this. Seems wyze implemented the same problem from the pan v3 into a new product. That’s great. It’s been a problem with the v3 forever, and they don’t seem to care about it. I’ve reported this issue to them and everybody else and the just say it’s a hardware issue. So, for now, not that I am aware of.

I suggest letting them know directly, and see what they have to say. Not many problem fixes that truly matter lately, just new problems.

No solution I’ve found. The only PTZ that acts mostly reliably is an indoor camera with minimal need to pan, tilt, or zoom.

I’m done with the ptz cameras until they can stop them from going blair witch on me. Nothing worse than pulling up a camera and having it staring at a wall.

At least with the PTZ V4 I’d get 4k of that eggshell satin finish.

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this — thanks for reaching out!

Would you be able to submit a log through the app? That would help our team look into the issue more closely. Also, if you could share a bit more detail about how the drift happens (e.g. which waypoints, how far off, how often, etc.), that would be super helpful for troubleshooting.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi there sorry for late response but in my set waypoints it used to drift a lttle down to the right from each waypoint but as of now it just point straight down and i would have to calibrate it everyday 3 times a day. Log ID: 1971187

Hi Kevin,

Based on the log, it looks like you have two waypoints set.

To help us further investigate the issue, would you mind trying the two steps below?

  1. Try selecting each of the existing waypoints to see if the camera moves to the correct positions. If not, please take a photo showing where the camera is actually pointing after tapping the waypoint.

  2. Try turning off Pan Scan temporarily to check if the drifting still occurs without it enabled.

After completing both steps, please submit another log through the app. If possible, you can also attach a photo showing the drifting issue.

Thanks so much for your help!

Guys… can I make a suggestion? If your using the same motors for the v4 as the v3, try a different motor. Seems to be the same problem that has never truly been addressed.

Thank you for the suggestion! The motors used in the current products are not the same, and the root causes of the drift issue can vary. We’re actively working to investigate and resolve this as quickly as possible.

Mine is drifting down over and over. Calibration works for a few hours.

Thanks for the feedback— sorry to hear it’s still drifting.

Would you mind sharing a bit more detail about how the offset appears? If possible, a photo or short video showing the drift would be super helpful.

Also, could you please submit a log through the app? That’ll help our team dig into the issue more effectively.

Thanks so much for your help!

Heres a couple screen shots

From the image, it does look like there is some drifting happening.

Would you mind helping us by trying the following steps?

  1. First, please turn off Pan Scan and Track Motion.

  2. Delete any existing waypoints.

  3. Manually calibrate the camera — once it returns to the correct forward-facing position, set that point as a new waypoint.

  4. Reboot the camera.

  5. Then, enable only the Track Motion feature (leave Pan Scan off).

After doing this, please observe whether the drifting still occurs.

If it does, we’d really appreciate it if you could submit a log through the app and share a photo or screenshot showing the issue.

Thanks so much for your help!

These steps should have been done before the camera was released; in the lab.

Thank so much i absolutely will

At 11:05 is when it finished re-booting with new set point with tracking on and panning off then other screenshots in a span of 30min

Thank you so much for your feedback!

To help us investigate further, could you kindly confirm a few things:

  1. It looks like the log submission didn’t go through — would you mind trying to submit it again through the app?

  2. Could you take another photo showing how the camera is installed (ideally a wide view of the setup)?

  3. Has the camera experienced any strong physical impact during use (e.g. hit, dropped, bumped, etc.)?

We really appreciate your help — it’ll allow our team to better understand what’s going on.

Thanks again!

The day i received it i mounted it right away.. never dropped nor got hit by anything.. maybe in transit to my house idk??

 :winking_face_with_tongue:

I have a Cam Pan V4 that also drifts from its waypoint/setpoint. It drifts upwards toward the ceiling.

From the image, it looks like the issue might be related to insufficient voltage.

To help us confirm whether the camera is receiving the required 5V 1.5A input, could you please help check the following:

  1. What’s the length and type/spec of the current extension cable (if any)?

  2. Are you using the power adapter that came with the Duo Cam? If not, could you share the specifications of the adapter you’re using?

Thanks so much for your help — this will really help us narrow down the issue.
