Purchased ($99) & installed the Duo Cam Doorbell yesterday. I’ve been waiting for Wyze to come out with a battery powered, WiFi, sd micro card slot doorbell. It replaced my Ring which I have been using for the last 6+ years. I stopped paying the $10 monthly charge 3 years ago and have been waiting for a doorbell cam with a slot for sd micro card. Opening the box I was a little disappointed in its quality, design & feel. It just felt cheap next to Ring. Overall I am happy that I’m able to record on my own terms without extra fees.
I have a question on settings, can I turn off the chime for any certain amount of time without going into settings & manually turning it off? With Ring I was able to in 2 clicks turn it off for 30 minutes or 3 hours.
Finally, this is what I was looking for or waiting from Wyze. After a week replacing my Ring battery doorbell, I like it so far, except for a couple of minor things. One is the Chime. With the Ring chime I was able to go to my Ring app and silence the chime for an hour or 3 or more. It doesn’t look like I can do the same with Wyze. I think the only way is to open the chime and hit the Do Not Disturb button. I just have to remember to turn the chime back on. Unless there is a way to silence the chime for Wyze? My other issue is I cannot record continuously on battery mode, only if it’s hardwired. I understand it would make the battery life shorter.
I don’t have Wi-Fi Chime, but apparently it’s a popular product, because it’s been out of stock for a while. I say that because—since I don’t have hands-on experience with that product—I don’t know what options exist within the app for controlling it in the way you’re asking.
I also don’t have hands-on experience with Duo Cam Doorbell, so I don’t know what options are available for controlling it from there, either. I think looking at the Do Not Disturb setting is reasonable, but I know that this is just a manual toggle on Video Doorbell v2, and I would expect to see something similar on other doorbells. (My Video Doorbell v2 is currently disconnected and inaccessible, and I’m using Battery Video Doorbell, which does not appear to have a Do Not Disturb feature.)
One place in the Wishlist I’ve seen something like this requested is here:
As with any Wishlist topic, you can visit that one to click or tap the Vote button above the initial post and share your ideas and use cases in the comments to show your support for the product and feature request/suggestions that are important to you.
That particular topic was started before the Universal Wi-Fi Chime was available, so I suspect most of the discussion there is about the original Wyze Chime that shipped with Video Doorbell v1. I haven’t seen other recent mentions of what you’re asking, so maybe that would be a better request for a different Wishlist topic. Unless an actual Wi-Fi Chime user has input on how to do this, I’d consider submitting a Wishlist topic to request this specific feature and/or seeking out other relevant Wishlist topics to comment and support.
I do wonder if you could create your own sort of “snooze” or temporary mute using a Wyze Plug as a logical switch, but that would work only if you can somehow toggle your Wi-Fi Chime on and off with an Automation, and I don’t know if you can because I don’t have one. If you can do that (turn the chime on/off in Automations), then you should be able to create two Automations within the Wyze app (a Shortcut and a Device & Service Trigger) that would allow you to snooze the chime for a user-defined period of time.
That’s my understanding, as well, and it’s the same with Battery Video Doorbell (which I have wired at my front door, so I’m able to do continuous microSD recording with that).
My doorbell was having connectivity issues so I thought I’d try reconnecting it altogether to my app. It’s not allowing me to factory reset it. I’ve removed the battery, held down the reset button, taken it out to dinner, said please, signed a divorce agreement, pushed and held the button over and over again, to no avail. The thing is not going to reset and it is not going to “ready to connect” me any time soon. SOS Dave.
