DST transition to Standard Time, does not record to SD card

Excellent detective work. I wonder if this is a bug or intended behavior?

For the sake of durability and safeguarding footage, I believe the camera should do its best to preserve all the footage it has for as long as it can.

I can’t tell. I know for a fact they reworked how the camera behaves when there is no internet for more than 30 minutes after firmware 4.**.13.0416 (or newer) for V3, V3 Pro, and Cam Pan V2.

Please see below for reference.

I’m finding more and more reason to stay at firmware 4.36.11.8391 for my Cam V3.

Reposting since I accidentally deleted it and I can’t seem to restore it.

Wyze cameras require internet connectivity to connect to a NTP server to sync timestamps and recording date. If it can’t access to a NTP server, it will start recording files and timestamp based on the firmware date that was built. I took advantage of this to do the following test below.

Confirmed. I am able to recreate this as well on my Cam V3 on firmware 4.36.13.0416 by disabling my WiFi and power cycling the camera. On the microSD, recordings will have timestamp 2024-07-03 01:10 saved in the folder record > 20240703 > 01 > 10.mp4, 11.mp4, 12.mp4 and etc. After 5 minutes, I power cycled it again and checked the files on the micro SD and it did overwrite it (no “_new” file was added)

I manually flashed back to 4.36.11.8391 and redid the test above while my WiFi is disabled. On the microSD, recordings will have timestamp 2024-01-04 19:39:46 saved in the folder record > 20240104 > 19 > 39.mp4, 40.mp4, 41.mp4 and etc. After 5 minutes, I power cycled it again and it didn’t overwrite the files, but it added “_new” for each file. Out of curiosity, I power cycle the camera again to check if it will add another file like “_new2” for example, but I can confirm it didn’t and it actually overwrite the “_new” file instead. That means if I were to restart the camera again then it will only overwrite the “_new” file again. 39.mp4, 40.mp4, and 41.mp4 and etc are left untouched.
