Doorbell v2 (wired) does not reconnect after power or internet short outage

Hello,
my video doorbell v2 is not reconnecting after a short glitch with Internet or electricity. It just blinks yellow forever and is offline for application so nothing can be done.
After I reconnect it manually it works fine, but as soon as an outage happens it goes off again. It’s not happening very often, but removing it from the wall, disconnecting wires, connecting again, and adding it back to the app is a pretty inconvenient piece of work.
I am pretty sure it was not the case at the beginning but started happening few months ago. Maybe some new firmware update or something else changed.

There are multiple posts about this. I’m one of the unlucky ones that this continues to happen to.

Out of curiosity, do you have ATT for your home internet? There has to be some sort of variable that ties those impacted together.

Welcome to the Forum, @greatssd!

I see that (as of this writing), you opened this topic 5 days ago. A firmware update that is supposed to resolve this issue was posted 4 days ago:

You didn’t mention what firmware you’re using, which could be helpful. As @ToyzRUsKid1976 mentioned, there are multiple other topics related to this issue, so I think you could probably be most helpful to yourself and other community members by seeking those out and sharing your experience there.

4.51.2.0379 didn’t fix mine. Brand new replacement unit. No SD card. Wide turned off. 2.4 only band WiFi. Great signal. Drops within 12 hours and will not reconnect. I have to do a reset in order to reconnect.
ATT GiG WiFi BGW320-505 there’s a constant flow of energy at the DB that matches that of the transformer 24.
There’s an OG camera sitting below the doorbell that I’ve had to rely on as a backup. It has had zero issues, so it’s clearly something with the firmware of the DB2.

I need to look into putting on the firmware from earlier this year that had zero issue.

Yeah, I’ve read your posts in other topics.

What about 4.51.2.0578 (July 29, 2024)? That’s what I was posting about, because I wanted to welcome @greatssd and I wanted @greatssd to be aware of another firmware version that was released after this topic was created.

I haven’t yet read of a way to do that, nor have I seen individual downloads of older firmware files being made available to flash from microSD in the way that this is possible for, say, Cam v3. I’m still using Video Doorbell v2 firmware 4.51.1.8444 (January 24, 2024) because of all the user reports about not receiving notifications. I’d really like to upgrade and be able to experience WDR because the view from my doorbell camera is so washed out on sunny days, but the stability of the connection and notifications outweighs the upgrade risk for me so far.

I don’t have an option for 0578. Is it beta?

Not AFAIK. It’s listed in both the official announcement topic that I linked here in the Forum and on the Release Notes & Firmware page, but my v2.5x app is showing me a possible upgrade from 4.51.1.8444 to 4.51.2.0379, so I don’t know what to tell you. I think you did the right thing by asking about it in the firmware release announcement topic, because I certainly have no answer.

Hello and thank you for your help!

I am currently on 4.51.2.0379 firmware. It does not offer me to update yet.

Not ATT.

Also, I would like to emphasize, that my device never loosing the connection by itself. Well, at least I haven’t noticed anything like that so far.
The signal at the door is not the strongest, mostly shows 2 bars.
My problem only comes up when internet turns off for some reason, like electricity outage even for a couple of minutes during a storm. Or even if the electricity is fine but the internet itself disappeared for some time.
The doorbell does not reconnect without manual intervention.

I’m also not seeing it as of this writing, and someone in another topic mentioned not being able to update to the latest firmware, as well. There seems to be an availability issue with this version, which I suspect we’ll have to wait on Wyze to resolve.

I just read it was put on hold due to a cloud issue.

You mean in the topic where Jason replied directly to me?

Yeah. Saw it.
