I just set up my Doorbell v2, and it’s working successfully with my chime. I have created a rule/automation stating that IF doorbell is pressed, turn on turn on notifications.
It seems though that the camera is alerting me every time there is motion, even if the doorbell is not pressed. Is there a setting that I would need to change to stop the motion detection, and to only send me a push notification when the button is pressed? I thought I set it up correctly, but it seems that I must have missed something.
There may be a misunderstanding of that automation action. The action of “turn on notifications” is not “send a notification”, that is “enable notifications”. So you are in essence toggling on notifications for future events when the doorbell is pressed (unless notifications are already enabled then nothing new occurs).
Do you have the motion notification settings disabled?
You can post screen shots of your different settings pages and the fresh eyes of the community here can see if anything is amiss.
You still could, but with the right actions it could be helpful. I’ve had Automations for when the doorbell is pressed, turn on a living room bulb to flash blue, etc.
If you go into the device itself, then click on the gear in the upper right, then notifications. You’ll have more control of specific notifications, like turning off motion notifications, but leave the main device notifications enabled
Thanks for your responses. I tweaked a few settings, and it seems that I am only getting alerts when the doorbell is actually pressed. The tweaks took some time to truly figure out, but everything seems to be working correctly now.
I’m glad to read that you’ve gotten this sorted. Something else you may want to consider is enabling VoIP calling for your doorbell so that button presses generate an actual call to your phone. Many users do this because the regular button press notifications otherwise tend to blend in with most of the phone’s other notifications and can be easy to miss.
If you choose to try this, then please pay special attention to the note for Android users in that Help Center article, because the “calling accounts” permission is necessary for this feature to work. If you decide to enable VoIP in the Wyze app, it’s probably a good idea to be near the doorbell so that you can go ahead and press the button (which should initiate the “calling accounts” request on your phone) and then press the button again to test the function and make sure it’s working as expected.
