Thanks for answering! An integration with Alexa would be a solution, but from what I’ve been reading here, it’s not working 100% either!
You’re welcome, and I think you’re right about “not working 100%”, at least according to what I’ve read in another topic, which just adds to the frustration, but supposedly Wyze’s engineers are working on it (which seems to be a standard talking point from Wyze Support). While I appreciate that people want this to work with Amazon Alexa—and I think it should, as advertised—my personal bias is toward better integration with Google Home. As rapidly as technology changes, I imagine these (plus cross-platform app development for both Android and iOS) are all challenging and constantly moving targets for the developers, which is why I try to exercise some patience. ![]()
I read the article on how to integrate with Alexa, the link that was supposed to show how to do it was down! And a search for a Wyze skill in the Alexa app returns no results!
This is what I find:
I’ve got the same issue. No longer rings on my Alexa devices. Used to work great. Tried all the same things of resetting, uninstall, reinstall. Even fully took down the doorbell and reconnected it. Nothing worked. Luckily I have Wyze smart bulbs which I set up to flash when doorbell pressed and a Wyze OG which plays a chime when pressed.
Here in my country (Brazil) it is unfortunately not available! Thanks
That’s a shame, since your country actually has the Amazon (River)!

I’ve got the same issue. During troubleshooting I noticed the following will bring the Alexa “Doorbell Press Announcements” temporarily back:
- Select the Alexa (app) doorbell device settings
- Disable “Doorbell Press Announcements“, wait 2 seconds
- Enable “Doorbell Press Announcements “, wait 2 seconds
- Return to the previous page (Devices)
- Wait at least another 30 seconds before any doorbell button press!!!
Then press the doorbell button and you should here the announcement on your Echo device again. This will also bring back the doorbell Alexa routines that stopped triggering.
Note, as soon as the doorbell v2 or Echo device reconnected after the WIFI/internet connection dropped (i.e. also after device restart) the Announcements are dead again and above steps need to be repeated. It may take more than one attempt, it appears to be very timing sensitive.
Another way to bring the announcements temporarily back is by asking Alexa to show the doorbell live feed on the Echo Show first. At that point the doorbell ring announcements also starts working again for that device until the next wifi/internet reconnection.
Anyone else who can confirm?
[Tested with Wyze video doorbell v2 firmware 4.51.2.0379 and Echo Show5, Echo4
I’ve updated to Video Doorbell v2 Firmware 4.51.2.0578 that just got released (July 29, 2024); release note states it “Fixed a bug that caused the device to not reconnect to Wi-Fi”.
Re-testing confirms that after doorbell device restarts or after a WIFI/Internet re-connection the first doorbell press is no longer skipped, i.e. I can hear now the Alexa Echo announcement upon first attempt.
Looks like things got a lot better with the 7/29 update.
This Firmware has not worked for me. I’m still having the same problem with the Echo’s ringing and I am unable to setup by Wyze Cam Pan v3 as a chime as I get an error when trying to do it. Sucks.

Is that even with the new v3.0 app? This definitely seems like something that needs to be addressed for you iOS users.
Incredibly frustrating that I just found this thread where this issue has existed for two months. Not only does it not work with Alexa, the doorbell press does not notify IFTTT either.
Like I say - just move on. Nothing we can do, but it would be better if the “error message” was something like “We’re working on it!”
Am experiencing the same issue. Definitely a bug somewhere. I only have my doorbell linked to all my Alexa devices, so if this doesn’t work, we have no way of knowing that we have someone at the front door. I do a restart of the unit and everything works for a little while, then stops working again. Will be logging a support case. ticket (4033552) logged
Welp after I notified Wyze support, “we’ll notify the team”, I finally get at least the trigger failing on the 23rd. I tested out the press again and it still does not work. 5 days later and then 7 days later it fails again but still nothing after I reconnect Wyze and turn on the app let.
WYZE fix this please. This doorbell has been a useless brick for a few months now.
I think like others have said, these bugs are big and game changers in lack of functionality and support. Ticket logging has been useless. They keep telling me they are “working” on it except the ticket is closed and they keep asking me to keep submitting logs. It was working fine until about 2-3 months ago. You would think you could revert bad updates and figure out the issue and make the customers happy? Guess that is not a priority for them.
So I think I might have found a fix for this. At least I realized why it wasn’t working for me. I was intending to use my echo devices for a chime so I never installed the chime controller. Also, in the Wyze settings for the doorbell I had the chime set to ‘None’. It seems to ring through Alexa when it’s changed to either ‘Digital’ or ‘Mechanical’. Good luck, hope this works for you!
I’m not sure if the Chime Controller has a direct effect on the Alexa integration (I wouldn’t expect it to), but I think installing it is a good idea because at least one of its purposes is to protect the doorbell, which is why Wyze recommends installing it even if the home’s built-in chime is broken. I suspect you got the Alexa chime because you actually selected a Doorbell Chime Type in the doorbell’s settings, and that’s good to know, so thanks for sharing!
When I installed my doorbell nearly a year ago, I was surprised to see that the app didn’t prompt me to select a chime type during setup. I’d previously installed an Arlo at my sister’s house, and that was part of the in-app setup routine, so I expected to see it in the Wyze workflow but didn’t. After installation, I selected it in settings anyway. Then a day or so later there was a pop-up in the Wyze app telling me to select a chime type (after I’d already done this). Oops. ![]()
Now I’m wondering if Alexa will still ring since you have a chime type set if you also enable Do Not Disturb. Hrm…. ![]()
