Hello all! I just changed from the doorbell pro to the doorbell duo. The issue I’m having is that the camera doesn’t pick up motion unless you’re right in front of it. Occasionally it will pick up a car that passes on the street but when I get packages or the mailman crosses and puts mail in my mailbox it doesn’t pick any of it up. I’ve never had this problem with my doorbell pro. I’ve reached out to Wyze and they ask me to do the basic resetting, changing my settings etc. nothing seems to work.
For reference I have three steps up to my house and to the doorbell. It only catches motion when you’re on the top step right in front of it. I’ve tried raising the detection setting to high, using the detection zone, not using the detection zone. I’ve had it on motion tagging, the event recording has been on All events, smart events. I’ve reset the whole doorbell and nothing works. If I can’t find a solution I’m going to just return it and use my doorbell pro because at least that worked properly.
The timing of this post haha. I just wrote about the same experience here:
I’ve had the DBD for around 2 months now, and it was working well prior, but only noticed this issue starting yesterday. Like you, the detection is only working when facing the DBD head on, and stuff off to the side is not triggering notifications (even though the motion tagging works in the video recordings).
It’s so frustrating! It hasn’t worked right since I received it. I told them I have a hard deadline of 4/20 to figure it out because that’s when the return window closes for me. They don’t seem to have any answers but if I get a response by the deadline I’ll update you!
I was about to start a new thread on this same topic. I had a similar problem with Video Doorbell Pro years ago, where I cannot get consistent Person detection working for the Duo Cam Doorbell. I have Cam+, but “easy” detections are most often missed where the person is in full view of the camera. I have no specific detection zones set and have turned the detection sensitivity all the way up . It doesn’t seem to detect until someone gets up to the door. Time to give up on Wyze again?
