Door lock install

Installing door lock. My door is held back slightly from aligning
with the strike plate in the door jamb. The weather stripping requires
an extra push to fully close the door to get a good seal.

The lock will unlock on command but will not re-lock
because of this minor mis-alignment.

Any thoughts on what might be done? By the way this is a rental so
can’t modify the door too much.

Could you attach some pictures?
You may have to ask the owner to sand down a bit of the hole where the deadbolt goes through the strike plate or move the strike plate itself.

Ok, I just had to chisel about 1/8th inch so I could move the deadbolt’s strike plate over.

Works fine now, no issues.
