Pulled all my remaining Wyze cams today :grin:

Installed Tapoā€™s in their place

Now I have 9 4k Reolinkā€™s and 10 2k Tapoā€™s

No more 5 minute cool-down or hobbled cams if you donā€™t subscribe. Also both brands are Far More Reliable

Didnā€™t realize what Data Consumption Pigs Wyze V3ā€™s are.

All the video uploads for AI server detection on camplus, and whatever else all the open ports that had data traffic sure used a lot of resources :thinking:

My Internet has more bandwidth now without Wyze, And no shady port traffic too ???

Hi,

The best thing about Reolink and Tapo is that, if you have a capable NAS, you can store all your recordings locally. Iā€™m setting that up right now with a few Tapo C520WS and C120 cameras. That way, I donā€™t need cloud storage.

The rest of the data traffic is really just administrative data for detecting whatever. Iā€™ll be done with this in a few days, and then the only thing left will be the Wyze Doorbell v2 in the Wyze app. And, of course, no more subscription.

Same here, I especially enjoyed the off grid ā€œtutorialā€ some time ago.

Not exactly a budget decision, but with cloud Events uploaded very sporadically over the past few days (none at all this morning, had earlier Reset Services on all cams, router was rebooted, etc, ), Iā€™m wondering about changing. But SD card Events are still captured reliably enough.

If I had a business and needed extremely reliable monitoring Iā€™d pay more.

My neighbors were celebrating last night that my Cam Plus Lite was still working. My cameras are indoors, so No sound.

Iā€™m done too. Iā€™m done with Wyze after several years. It started with taking away the grid detection. I stopped doing updates, because I perceived that the updates are take-aways, not improvements.

And now, with the latest v4 cameras I got, I canā€™t believe how fā€™d up the set-ups are; cloud, thumbnails, 5minā€¦ wow.

I thought I was SD recording our fireworks last nightā€¦ and I got nothing.

ā€œno video available at this timeā€ seems to be the common error message. I tried ever setting combination (it seems) and I got nothing.

I like them at the beginning when it was simple. I donā€™t have time to research all the changes.

Even this support is no help, when I see that so many people are also confused.

No cloud or monthly charges for me.

Yes, this is a rant. Iā€™m outa here. See ya on the other side.
