I’m just sayin’ y’all…
Nice to hear.
Obviously something’s wrong
You have woke up in an alternate universe
Should I contact customer service?
Do I need to adjust the timeline to get back to reality?
Yes, but that’s only if the SD card didn’t fail in your Wyze Cam…
If it failed you’re stuck in the Alternate universe where Wyze is a reliable well designed product
That didn’t last long…
It rarely does, that is just how Wyze works (or doesn’t)
And that is why I am swapping out my Wyze cams for Reolink cams. So far 100% more reliable than Wyze.
Stable firmware and software, not like Wyze where the cam needs updated out of the box, then every 4-8 weeks and every update has a bug of some sort nearly every time.
No Pay to Play, Subscription free cameras that work.
+1 for Reolink, with a few caveats / personal gripes, as well as some appreciation.
WiFi connectivity isn’t quite as good in my experience especially with the wireless cams (Argus Pro, Argus 3). My Argus 3, mounted outside, sometimes gets interrupted by the microwave oven. Even now it won’t connect. (Wish it had 5 GHz capability but my 5 GHz signal barely works outside anyway.)
My PTZ indoor wired cam, which uses 5 GHz WiFi, still sometimes has poor connectivity. Also I find the PTZ controls are slow to respond, sometimes unresponsive. (More likely when trying to view / control remotely versus on the same network.)
When in “Clear” (high res) mode, the streaming and recording quality of my wireless cams is a bit choppy, even when inside and no RF interference. In “Fluent” (low res) mode this goes away. Kind of a bummer as the high res picture is otherwise quite good.
I like that in the app I can swipe between cameras; with Wyze and Eufy I have to tap several times to get back to the main screen to view another camera.
If you’re into customization, ReolInk has more options for picture brightness, PIR sensitivity, etc.
That said I wish it was a little quicker to detect motion even on Medium.
Setting for recording after motion detection is up to 30 seconds after detection (and 30 > 12 ); however if it continues detecting it will usually save as a single extended clip, rather than multiple shorter clips in the same timeframe.
Battery life with the solar panel is quite good, especially if it isn’t constantly detecting and recording. It’s usually at 100%, and I have rarely seen it drop below 80-90%.
And yeah they also offer cloud services, but rarely push or annoy you to sign up. Also I don’t see them having AI features.
Wyze is the only company I’ve experienced where features which were once included as standard , are subsequently taken away and/or moved to their paid subscription option.
So more or less the Reolink cameras are not much better than Wyze’s.
The AI is built in and works well.
I’m using the 4k 8mb cams
Wifi is working in the same places I have (or had) Wyze cam V3’s
I have an extensive WiFi mesh that covers my acreage very well running WiFi 7. WiFi 6 or 7 is needed for most their cams especially 4k and up.
No battery cams although entire system is on whole home battery backup and several driveway cams are on a “real” DC solar system with 100ah battery and 2x 200w panels.
And top the setup off with a NVR for secure backup if cams are compromised.
Uses tons less data than my V3’s do!
AI detection works good for me!
Vehicle detection is good, skip ahead 10 seconds due to my pre-record and post-record settings
That depends on the point of view
Reolink’s are Not hobbled without subscription.
No 5 minutes cool down, etc …
Better security, ever heard of someones camera showing up in someone else’s app like Wyze?
Remember Wyze’s vaporware NAS, Reolink has many options.
FTP, RTSP, etc …
Far more flexible on ways to view and display, such as a grid monitor of all cameras on a big screen.
Works with or without Internet unlike Wyze
Double the warranty time
Check out their offerings then decide
No, I wouldn’t say that at all. I fully echo what byronhu said. Reolink is overall a better company with better products. Can’t compare the battery cams to Wyze’s because I don’t have Wyze’s and I refuse to try them now.
Just knowing that every product and producer has its limitations and trade offs. I’ll take Reolink’s or Eufy’s over Wyze’s any day of the week.
I was referring to @peacefrog_0521 's post and what I got from his post, not much better. You seem to paint them with better brush.
It sounded like that especially the point where you saying that the video quality at high resolution is choppy.
I did, and they are pricier than Wyze’s. In all honesty, I am happy with my v3s and the v4 for now. I’m not disputing that Reolink cams are better, just can’t justify replacement at this time.
Wifi 6 or 7 required otherwise there may be choppy-ness sometimes depending on WiFi load from all devices connected.
So I’m guessing they’re not suitable for slow internet connections then?
For optimum viewing yes, anything above 15 up/down should work fine.
Slower Internet will cause off network remote viewing to be down scaled just like most cams including Wyze.
Good to know. Thanks!
