Dissapointed with my Wyze Cam Pan 3

I purchased the wyze pan3. It does not record video without a plan. It does take snapshots, But in the app, every time that I want to check out an event, it says that I need a plan. Thankfully I only purchased one camera, tested it and found it to be lacking what I need and want.

Put in a µSD card and set to continuous recording. Solved.

As @K6CCC said, having a microSD card in any camera that allows it is the way to go, and I think that’s one in the “plus” column for Wyze cameras. I also think they spell out the features pretty clearly for people who choose not to subscribe. As an informed consumer, I was aware of that going in, which is why my Wyze cameras have cards for local recordings.

An additional benefit of using SD cards; no 5-minute cooldown!

My Panv3s with SD cards have been recording 24x7 for nearly 2 years. Love them.

Technically it still has a 5 minute cooldown, but you have video recorded during that time. No notifications or tags though.

We’re not talking server recording here, as SD card recording was the very first reply to the OP. Cooldown is a server function.

Not sure I follow. With a micro SD card and no subscription, there is a 5 minute cooldown where it will record, but not log any events or send any notifications. Yes those events and notifications use the Wyze servers, but the cooldown still exists. If you subscribe and have an SD card, then all motion is tagged and notified, even on the SD card.

They’re basically two different things, recording to SD card can be continuous with or without a subscription and is beneficial even with a subscription. The “cooldown” refers to events and notifications and varies depending on your subscription.

Logging is another server function. OP has no cloud recording at all. It doesn’t pertain to him.

I have no subscription. My cameras still log events and notify me (and tag them on the SD card timeline), but a max of once every 5 minutes, even with an SD card. If I had a subscription, that 5 minute limit would be removed, including from the SD card, and the timeline would have more events tagged on it and I would get more notifications.

That is wrong. The SD card will record, all events, whether there’s a cooldown or not. Ask anyone here who’s been here a long time.

I turn off notifications, but I can review, without the 5 minute gap on micro SD.
Even a 32GB provides enough archival footage for me.

If you re-read what I put, it is not wrong.

Of course it will record, that’s the whole point of an SD card. It will record regardless of whether it is in motion-only or continuous mode. Cooldown has 0 impact on that.

However it will not TAG or NOTIFY more than every 5 minutes without a subscription. No icon on the timeline (but you can see that there is a recording there) and no notification if it is less than 5 minutes since the last one. The cooldown affects anything cloud related, and tagging and notifying are cloud functions.

It doesn’t apply to the OP. He has none because he just bought his cam pan. He doesn’t have a grandfathered Cam Plus Lite.

I was clarifying what you said so OP wasn’t confused and potentially more upset after buying an SD card. I replied to you, not them. You also do not need any subscription, including Lite, to get tag and notify (every 5 minutes).

Maybe this will make it easier to follow:

This is an open forum. Anyone can read any post. Like I responded to Crease and you - gosh - responded to me?

No kidding, was not suggesting otherwise. You just don’t seem to be following the flow of the conversation. You were implying that my response was to the OP and did not apply to them. But my response was to your comment. Seems to be where your confusion is coming from. Hope that clarifies.

Again, neither do you.

Don’t know why you need to bicker over this (or various other things from time to time), I gave a simple clarification, could have been the end of it, since at that point everything was covered and correct.

This is adding 0 value, I’ll check out.
