Different Alert Sound for Wyze Notifications

Thx! I’m doing an adjective cleanse right now. I can get quite verbose and loquacious at times. Trying to keep the posts shorter.

That only causes a different sound for ANY Eye notification from other Apps on your device. That is a function of Android. That post avoids the issue of not being able to have a different sound notification for each individual notification within the Wyze App so that I can tell from the sound which doorbell is being pressed or which camera has detected a person (not just motion). This issue is vital to the security of my house using Eye devices. In short, because of the lack of this functionality, Wyze products provide NO SECURITY for my house!

Yes. Which is exactly the question the OP asked and to which I replied.

Then, when asked in reply to that post how to access that setting, I replied with the instructions.

You have to follow the reply links to see the context.

That is because this is not the thread for that functionality request. If you want to discuss that functionality request, the Wishlist thread you can post in is here:

That thread also contains links to threads discussing how many users, including myself, have accomplished this very functionality for some time now with 3rd party apps. I currently have 24 cams with individually unique notification tones and unique notification tones for 13 different notification types and devices.

Forgive me if this is a simple fix and I’m missing the solution, still learning how to setup Macro Droid. I am using a long notification sound in order to wake me up if I receive said notification at night. The problem that I am running into is the whole sound plays even if I clear the notification. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for the help, your tutorial was very helpful.

I think you can make a new trigger based on clearing a notification, the action would be stop sound I believe. I’ll open up my Macrodroid later and see what the specifics are.

Welcome to the Wyze User Community Forum @xwikedonex! :raising_hand_man:

@towelkingdom is right on target. A second macro is needed.

Trigger will be from Device Events → Notification → “Notification Cleared” from the Wyze App. You can customize it to match specific text or you can do it for any Wyze Push Notification.

Action will be from Media → Play\Stop Sound → “[stop existing sound]”

When you clear the Wyze notification the sound will stop.

Alternatively, you can tap the volume and then tap the bell at the top to mute the phone volume.

That was the trick! Thank you!

I had this on my previous Alcatel A600DL

But my new Galaxy s10+ does not have it.

I hope it become standard for the app

If it is an Android it should have the ability in the Notifications Settings menu to change the sound of the WyzeMessage channel to any sound you have saved to your Notifications folder on the root directory. It is an Android default capability. This is from the Samsung Support Site:

  • Launch the Settings app and tap Apps.
  • Select the app you want to change a notification sound for (Wyze) and tap Notifications.
  • Tap General notifications. (Repeat for the WyzeMessage channel. This is the channel used for push notifications)
  • Tap Sound.
  • Select your desired sound.

What version of Android is this? I am running Galaxy S20 FE and I do not have these same options. I do not have a general notifications that allows me to change the sound.

That was from the Samsung Support Site when searching “Galaxy S10+ change App Notification Sound”. Unfortunately, every new version of Android has the possibility to put it in a different place and every manufacturer build can then tweak and change that.

THIS DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE! Android can only provide a single different sound for ANY notification from the Wyze App. That sound is not unique enough to let me know if it is a notification because someone has pressed the doorbell at my house in NC or the doorbell of my house in SC, or if a “person” was detected on a specific V2 camera. To cause different sounds per device or per specific notification, it has to be programmed into the Wyze App. The phone/contacts App for Android has this programming in it so that a different ringtone can be made based on who from your contacts list is calling you. It is programming in the App, not a feature of Android. What you have outlined will cause a different sound for ANY push notification from Wyze. What is needed is a setting within the Wyze App for different ringtones/sounds for specific Wyze notifications. At a minimum, it should be separate sounds for each device. Ideally, it should be for each possible unique push notification within a device. So for the single doorbell device, the doorbell camera in NC should cause a unique sound for camera notification of motion, and a different sound for a camera notification of a person detected, and a different sound for a notification of a press of the doorbell button. Every device/notification should be able to have a unique sound selected by the user within the Wyze App.

As I already replied to you above on March 22nd, This wishlist request in this thread is for ONE global notification tone for the entire Wyze App. Hence the topic name “Different Alert Sound [singular] for Wyze Notifications”. It is in testing now in the Beta Release Candidate App. That same functionality, to change the sound [singular] of the Wyze App Notifications, all of them, to a single unique tone IS a setting that can be made in Android but not in iOS. That is why it is explained that way in this thread… Because that is the topic here.

That is NOT what this Wishlist topic is requesting. If you want that functionality, I invite you to go to the Wishlist topic that requests unique individual tones for each device and post there

That cannot be accomplished natively in Android or iOS, but this topic is not discussing that functionality. The Wishlist thread linked above is where that is discussed.

No, it doesn’t. You want them to program that into the App for you, but it isn’t required for you to have that functionality today since you use Android (sorry iOS users. Apple isn’t as easy for App Developers to work with).

The thread I linked also discusses and links to other threads on how you can accomplish this functionality today. I have a unique notification tone for 25 different cams as well as one for each type of Sense V2 Sensor (3, although each of my 30+ sensors could have its own tone), Robot Vac, Thermostat, and HMS Alarm\Armed\Offline state. I also have unique individual tones for every AI type (5) and Automation Uploads as well as Webhook triggers for each of these individual device notifications and types to execute Routines & Applets by Alexa and IFTTT that trigger non-Wyze and Wyze devices to activate and trigger yet other Wyze Rules. It is automation mania.

Again, if you want to express your need for Wyze to program individual device notification tones into the App, please go to that thread and post there. If you want to learn how to do that today, follow the links I posted in that thread. If you want me to help you with that, feel free to DM me.

My wish, that I think is the same. I would like the doorbell button push to have a separate tone. often, when working in the back of the property, etc I get regular alerts of my movement. If I turn those nuisance alerts to silent, I lose the ability to be alerted to the door bell in front. would like the doorbell BUTTON alert to be separate and separately controlled volume. a sound like a short door bell that over road other silenced phone alerts would be preferred.

As far as the doorbell is concerned, you can go into main notification setting, push settings, and set voice over ip so you phone rings instead of getting a push notification. It just doesn’t help with all the other products.

Hopefully, with the beta version that is being tested, this will be resolved. 1
