Conumdrum with v3 and network

Hi all,
I have a conundrum I don’t know how to resolve.

I have multiple cams at home and 1 cam at a 2nd location. I’m using an Ipad.
I went to my 2nd location and when I try to view the cam here, it says “connection failed, error code 0. Connect your mobile device to a different network…”

I assume it wants me to go home and connect to my home network again. When I was at home, I could view this remote cam no problem. But now that I’m here on this network, I can’t.

I can view my home cams no problem from here.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Thanks.

Does you iPad have cellular data capabilities? If yes turn that on and make sure the WYZE app has permission to use cell data.
Did you set the camera up at home and then install it at the second location?

My Ipad does not have cell data.

I setup the cam here at this location last year, and it’s been working fine since then. I could view it from here or from home, using the same Ipad, until now.

Now when I retry, the message says “device has lost connection, try moving closer to the router.” But it’s only about 20 feet from the router, so can’t be that.

When I say it was working fine, I should add one strange thing… when I view night, everything is black except things very close to the cam, whereas before even far away things were gray. So maybe the IR is failing.

Thanks.

Maybe you could try a different power adapter? 5V-1A, I had one for a V3 the other day that was causing me issues, the camera would work for a few min. then be be off line again. I replaced the power adapter and it seems to have fixed the issue. The v3 is 1.5 years old. Other than that I am out of ideas.

It sounds like your iPad is not connecting to that particular network. Can you surf the net from that location?

I did try a different power adaptor. Luckily brought one with me for a different reason.
But same issue.

The Ipad is working fine on the network, surfing wherever I want.
Also my wife’s Ipad, also 2 laptops have no issues.
Thanks for trying!
On edit, and I’m using the same Ipad to see my cams at home with no issues.

Have you tried rebooting the camera and modem/router?

Not sure if you answered this before, have you tried both when connected to wifi and cellular data? If you were able to view it from the other location, that implies that it is working fine on cellular data and maybe there is just a wifi issue (if the iPAD has been upgraded to IOS 18, make sure you’ve granted the Wyze app “Local Network” permission).

Also I second @habib - when all else fails, reboot everything.

What ISP/router is at this location?

I have rebooted the cam many times.
The router rebooted when there was a power failure yesterday.

This V4 says “Buy Me” , I need a job

I don’t use cellular data, so that can’t be it.
The Ipad is still on 17.3.

The ISP/router is Bell wireless home network.
Maybe I can no longer view it from my home network, don’t know since I’m at my remote location now. I could view it 2 days ago.

If the IR has died (and it isn’t just a setting that has been turned off) and now it seems to be having connectivity issues, the cam may just be dying. If you tried a new power supply, did you also try a new cable? Sometimes that can be the issue.

If there is somewhere nearby with wifi you can jump on (to test “outside your network”) and it still works there, that would be very odd. I suspect maybe it isn’t working for either anymore.

But you can try clearing the cache in the Wyze app and maybe even reinstalling the app. Sometimes things just get “stuck”.

well, just to followup:

the cam wouldn’t connect, and I went home to see if I could view from the home network, but no luck.
Now today I came back to my remote location, and suddenly it works. I didn’t do nothing, it’s just suddenly working.

I think I’m slowly going to phase my 6 cams out. They’re just too finicky, and too time consuming to chase down problems. Yes, they’re cheaper than others, but I’d rather pay a bit more and stop wasting my time trying to figure out why they don’t work.

Thanks guys for the help.

We all have to do what we have to do. Good luck with your new cameras, I hope they turn to be a better choice than what you have now.
