Help. We had a major power outage yesterday, and I had to reset and re-install my router. I used the same name/password for the network as before.
Now all of my cameras and plugs are showing “offline” in the app, but when I tap one of the cameras, I get my live feed. The plugs are not responsive at all.
When I was first setting up this router, Wyze sent me a code to use an app called “Route This” to help me modify the router settings to optimize my Wyze device connectivity. It worked great – but after having to do a factory reset, I lost all of those settings.
We’ve seen this before. If you are sure you used the same name and password, I suggest this. Turn off the router and cable modem. (Want to reboot everything from outside coming inside (including the devices.)
Plug cable modem back in. Wait about 2 minutes, generally you will see the 4-5 lights back on.
Plug the router back in. Wait about 2 minutes. Try first those cameras easy to reach, if they are not already online (in the app), remove power and power them back up after a minute or so. Most of the time this fixes the camera.
But most of us most familiar with Wyze, don’t use their plugs. You will likely need to re-add them. Often, but not always - same with light bulbs.
Good luck. Let us know.
There was an issue a couple of months ago that affected Plugs and the recommended step to get them back online was to power cycle them—actually unplug them and then plug them back in:
I ended up having to reset everything to factory status and re-install them all. The power outage tried to brick my router as well, so I had to start with that. I got all of my smart home devices back up and running, but it’s still 111 degrees outside so we will have to watch out for more electrical interruptions.
Recommend a UPS, at least on the router combo unit. It also provides surge protection. I have two of my 8 cams on their small, cheap UPS. I have a larger UPS for my entertainment center.
