I have moved house, and changed my internet provider. I have two cameras, both outdoor, one is battery and the other is a wired pan camera. I cannot get them to connect.
I have gone into the internet app and changed the 5 ghz to the 2.4 ghz. The pan camera will connect, and I can view the livestream on it. As soon as I switch back to the 5 ghz setting it stops working. The battery cam will not connect at all.
Is there something I am missing here? That is entirely possible, I am an older person, and not great with these things.
Nothing wrong on your end, this catches a lot of people after a move. Wyze cameras only work on 2.4 GHz, so the router needs to keep 2.4 GHz turned on all the time. You don’t have to pick one or the other though: most routers can run both bands at once, so your phone can stay on 5 GHz while the cameras use 2.4. In the router app, look for a setting to turn on both bands, or to give the 2.4 GHz network its own name.
For the battery cam, since it’s a new network it needs to be set up again. Charge it fully, then remove it in the Wyze app and add it again as a new device while standing near it.
Thank you! The pan cam is now working. I deleted the outdoor camera, but when I tried to add it again, it won’t pair.
It can help to try the setup again with the camera fully charged and standing close to the router, with your phone on the 2.4 GHz network during setup. If it still will not pair, it is worth checking that the camera is giving the usual setup prompt before entering the network details, as that confirms it is ready to connect.
Sorted it, with plenty of trial and error. Gave up late yesterday afternoon, and went back at it this morning determined not to fling it in the bin and start over with something new.
First thing I noticed was that the base station for the outdoor cam was flashing blue. So it wasn’t connecting, little wonder the camera wouldn’t pair. I had followed the instructions from my internet provider on how to turn the 5ghz off long enough to get the base to connect, but it made no difference. So, it seemed to me, perhaps it was the ethernet cable that was the problem. I really couldn’t think of anything else to try.
Went into my late husband’s Stash 'O Cables, swapped it over, and believe it or not the base station connected. And right after that I was able to get the camera paired. Changed the base to work off the wifi, and it’s all good.
Thanks for getting me over the hurdle of the camera only wanting 2.4 ghz, I had no idea. My husband was my personal in-house-geek. It’s taken me two days to get it done, something he could have managed in no time, but I got there in the end!
