Turning off Color Bulb with my phone app disables the wall light switch.
After that, I cannot turn on the light. No matter how long I leave the switch off, it will not function to turn the light back on.
If I lose access to my phone, or my batteries die, or it’s in another room, and it gets dark, I have to walk around my home in the dark with no way to turn a light on. Yes, all my light are Wyze Color Bulb.
This was working before the last firmware update. The light switch worked just fine after turning it off for a few seconds and then back on. The light would come on. But after the last firmware update, this stopped working. The light switch is now “dead” if I turn off the light using the app.
This needs to get fixed. It’s not only inconvenient, but it’s dangerous. I’ve already had moments where I had to walk around in the dark.

Do Wyze bulbs work without WiFi?
Shortcuts, automation, and control through the Wyze app won’t work if the WiFi is offline, but you can still turn the Wyze Bulb on/off using the light switch without issue. Whenever the Wyze Bulb loses its WiFi connection, it will default to an ‘On’ state so that it can be used as a regular light.Jul 16, 2019
UPDATE
I did my own Support and removed the bulb from my app and did a setup from scratch.
It worked. The problem is fixed now.
Why couldn’t at least 7 support emails and repeated contacts with Support have told me to do that? They never did. That would have resolved it. They should hire me to do Support.
I hope Support reads this and puts in their Support Database.
I pity the next customer who has to go through what I went through (3 months of no resolution).
The bulbs have a setting for last power state in the event of power loss: on or last known state. If they are turned off in the app and you turn off the switch, they will stay off.
Mine is set to last state. I can turn off using the app, then turn on using the switch.
What you are referring to is not relevant to my situation.
That setting is for complete power loss.
I don’t want all my lights coming on if there is a power loss, so I have that set to last state.
I fixed my issue by deleting every bulb from the phone app and reinstalling it.
Thanks for your reply.
UPDATE read more replies below for the full solution…
If you check the settings on your bulbs I will bet the power setting is now to power on. Turning your switch off is the same as losing all power. If you reset the bulbs to last known state, turn them off in the app and try the switch they won’t work.
WildBill, you are correct. The Power Loss Recovery controls whether the light switch will work or not. When you re-install, the default is to set it to Light On.
So, now that I understand that, I turned all of my lights to Light On.
But if the power goes out during the night, does that mean all my lights will come ON? I guess I will have to take that little inconvenience. And, even if I’m out of town, I can still turn them off remotely.
This is not ideal, but at least I have a working light switch now, and that’s the most important thing.
Thank you for speaking up.
In thinking about this, if I’m going out of town, I should physically turn off all the wall switches to Off. Then the lights will not come on after a power outage. Correct? (I have no way to test this).
The answer to this is yes. If the power fails and comes back on, so will the lights.
You could do that and the lights won’t come on. I don’t know how many you have, but you could also setup a rule to turn them off after X minutes but only enable the rule if you are away.
