Cats in the Chicken Run

They seem to only be interested in catching rodents. I’m still in Calif and can’t work on reinforcing the (un-electrified) electric fencing. So far, they haven’t touched the hens and only go in there after the hens go to bed.
I don’t know why they haven’t ventured inside the coops, unless they’re afraid of the vynel strips I put on the doors.

Yeah, the chickens are too big. They’re totally saving you money by ensuring that only the chickens eat the feed so you aren’t wasting it on rodents. What nice friends you have there.

Ha yeah. But I did see one of them scarfing up some feed too. I plan to get babies in the spring and don’t want them to be easy prey.

I have chickens and an outdoor cat. She is more scared of the chickens than they are of her, but smaller chickens and chicks would probably be a different story…

Hey as long as you don’t have chicks you should be good not to mention they be saving your chickens if you have weasels or any rodents around cuz they ain’t going in there with them in there.

Yeah, but sometimes cats will react quickly, so they’ve been known to attack chickens. But you’re right about the rodents. I haven’t seen the cats in there the last two nights. But they don’t come in during the daytime and there were 3 mice in there today.
