❌ Cannot delete a Time Lapse from OG on µSD

Found an odd situation where I cannot delete the Time Lapse (TL) video from the µSD card.

Apparently the process to delete a TL is you first delete the TL from your album and then you would delete the TL from the µSD card.

This process does not appear to fully work for me on my new OG Cam. Please see if I am missing something or is this a possible bug?

Open Album …

Open TL …

Click Delete… Get the warning and acknowledge you want to delete TL.

Observe that TL can be re-downloaded at this point from the µSD card. I don’t want to download the TL.

Where is the edit button I used to see on other UIs?

If I click or press and hold the µSD copy, it will download only. No option is presented to delete.

I do not see any option elsewhere in the app.

Possible solution guesses:

I guess I could reformat the µSD card, but I am looking for a simpler solution. I may want to keep the data on my µSD card. Hopefully I don’t need to remove the µSD card and insert into my Windows PC and delete with File Explorer.

I tried this process on two of the recent Android app versions, v3.2.1 (581) and v3.2.2 (586).
OG Firmware version - 1.0.84

I am using Android 14 OUI 6.1 November 1st Security Patch on my Samsung S24. (Same issue on my S21.)

I could not find this issue in any forum thread. I am not sure if this option was never available or it disappeared after 3.x.x.

If you have any clues, I would be interested.

Thank you.

Oops. Just saw this in the wishlst. I thought this would be an important thing to fix.

Why is this a wishlist item? :confounded:

This is a pain in the :rooster:, and I’m surprised I wasn’t notified about this topic before (because of the way I have my tracking preferences set). I found it from your post in the Wishlist topic you linked, and I found that topic because I was looking for information about the same issue myself.

I think the two methods you suggested (pulling the microSD card from the camera and inserting it into a PC to delete the time_lapse folder and/or its contents or reformatting the card) are the only ways to reclaim that space for other use (i.e., when the card is set for Continuous or Events Only recording), at least for now. That’s less than ideal.

FWIW, this issue is the same in the v2.50x app. I don’t know if it’s got more to do with Cam OG’s firmware or with the “Plugin Version” in the app, but I think it’s a good argument for a consistent UI for all Cam models in the app.

This missing feature should not reside on a wish list to lay here ignored year after year.

I agree. Its absence in the app seems like a weird oversight, but there are other things about Cam OG’s UI that puzzle me in the ways they differ from that of other Cam models, too. Since a primary goal for that project seemed to be bringing it in at a retail cost that was on par with their original Cam v1, I’m not sure why they chose to change the interface so much. It’s a head scratcher.
