Can not view playbacks on Cam Pan V3 cameras

I purchased 2 Cam panV3 cameras in June of 2023 and have been working ever since then with tech support to get the playbacks to work correctly. I have tried all their troubleshooting and still they aren’t working properly. I own 14 other Wyze cameras of different models and the playbacks work perfectly. The V3’s are the only model that has a different format for viewing playbacks and you have to go into the SD card to view. This feature will only show the message No video at this time. Is anyone else experiencing this same problem?

what happends when you switch out the SD cards from a problem camera to a working camera? does the problem stay with the camera? or follow the sd card?

I gather that your other 14 cameras are older and use the old User Interface whereas you new PanV3s use the new UI. Yes, it is different, but works fine. Do you have the cameras set to continuous recording or Events only on the Settings > Advanced settings > Record to MicroSD Card? And if you select Manage MicroSD Card, whaat does it show for the card capacity?

Yes. It’s been discussed extensively in the Forum, and I experienced it again just now:

  1. I tapped a notification to get to the event and then tapped the Playback button at the bottom with the microSD card icon. The app navigated to the playback screen, and the viewer showed the “No video at the selected time.” message, which then was quickly replaced with the “Failed to load from local storage.” and “Troubleshoot” messages. I waited a few seconds, because sometimes this self-resolves, but that didn’t happen in this case. :negative_squared_cross_mark:
  2. I tapped the (Android; I don’t use iOS) back button once and then again tapped the Playback button. This time, the video played after a few seconds, but it was laggy/jerky/jumpy, hanging and then advancing 2-3 seconds at a time. :negative_squared_cross_mark:
  3. I tapped the back button again and then tapped the Playback button a third time and was finally able to see smooth video of the event. :white_check_mark:

The inconsistency in the experience is annoying, and you’re certainly not the only person affected.

It looks like Crease and I had different understanding of what you are trying to do. Are you trying to watch videos from the Events tab and then from there trying to go to the local µSD card recording, or are you trying to go the the µSD card recordings directly from the camera main page using the Playback button (old UI) or SD Card (new UI)?

Yes my other cameras are older and use the old Ui. I can view events but I assume these are all recorded to the cloud storage as they don’t show when I tap the sd card to view. And yes all my cameras including the Cam Pan V3’s are set to record continuously and do show that way under advanced settings. Also when I access the the sd card under settings it definitely shows that it is being recorded to and if I insert it into my laptop it allows me to view the recordings. I can only do this when I am at my cameras location and I need to be able to view the playbacks remotely.

If you’re doing continuous recording to microSD, then shouldn’t your events show up with tags in the timeline (as well as on the Events tab)? This is my experience doing continuous microSD recording on Cam Pan v3s with Event Recording set so that both Record motion events and Record sound events are enabled and All Motion Events is selected (I’m not a Cam Plus subscriber). Set this way, I see generic “Motion” and “Sound” events on the Events tab and those same events tagged in the microSD recording timeline when I navigate to a camera’s Live Stream screen and tap the SD Card control below the viewer pane. I’m not sure why you don’t seem to be seeing that.

My panV3 playback issue is on iOS and it seems every few days it stops recording and says the microSD card is unsupported. Sometimes I’m able to power off and power on the camera it recognizes the card. This time I had to then format the card. Will see how long the playback function works this time.

my panV3 is outside, mounted on the garage door frame, it’s been warm here, upper midwest, but the placement should be relatively dry. The card slot cover is in place.

I am using the same microSD card in 5 other cameras (OG, v3, v2), and it works fine. keeps recording after it’s full.

again, will see if this holds.

I agree. I should be able to view the events and see them listed when tapping the sd card in the ui. This unfortunately does not show anything other than the msg No video at the selected time! It should be showing each one of the events along with a green bar on the right hand side indicating my continuous recordings. None of that shows up under the sd card option. The user interface for these cameras is all together different than any of the other models. All of the older cameras with the older ui work perfectly. With the older ui you just go to the playback bar at the bottom of the screen instead of hitting the sd card button on the new ui.

So what you are telling me is, that the new UI for the Pan Cam V3’s works properly for you and you can tap the SD card option for playbacks and are able to view them?? Both of my V3’s, one mounted outside and the other inside, will not allow that and only show No video at the selected time even though both are set to record continuously to the sd cards and do show that they are recording but you just can’t view the recordings. I have reformatted the sd cards, tried different sd cards, including ones purchased from Wyze. I reset the cameras back to factory settings and have jumped through all the Wyze troubleshooting procedures and still no avail! At this point I really don’t know why yours work and mine will not! I will say that recently Wyze had a firmware update for the V3’s and my cameras did work briefly but then went right back to not being able to view the playbacks. Being your’s seem to work, can you tell me how often you use this feature? When mine did work, I found that after I tried different time segments it would me to view briefly but then just stop and then give me the No video message again. Why Wyze for some reason went to a different UI for these cameras is beyond me! Why change when you have something that works! I really feel that it is a UI problem and not a camera problem because they are recording continuously to the sd cards but just can’t be viewed!

just finished a 90 min chat with wyze trying to resolve me issue. After resetting my camera, it won’t recognize any micoSD card. And i’m 45 days past my warranty period. They are giving me a $10 gift card, towards the purchase of a new camera.

I’ve ordered different sd cards, bigger, will format differently and see if the camera recognizes them, From your experience, i’m not hopeful.

maybe it’s just a firmware issue too. i really can’t recall the last time i actually tried to go back and look at the sd card. Maybe a 3-4 weeks ago, maybe it was only 2. It was Aug 20, According to wyze site - " Wyze Cam Pan v3 Firmware 4.50.5.0587 (July 29, 2024)"

so maybe firmware…

Mine has the same firmware with their last update. It definitely could need another one. I was excited as it did work after the last update but only for a brief period. Another thing, if I power cycle the cameras, it will occasionally bring the events over and show playbacks for the events on the sd card but then they go away after a brief period as well. I have been working with support since my cameras were still under warranty so they did allow me a new camera but that also worked the same way so the issue is still there. I really do love the cameras as well as the older versions of their pan cams that are only for indoor use. The older ones including the V3 that doesn’t pan work flawlessly. I also wish that you could talk to their techs that actually work on the cameras themselves. They definitely need to get their stuff together about that issue as well. I feel that a lot of problems just fall on deaf ears and are not passed on to the people that can correct the problems. I finally just replaced the pan V3 that I had mounted outdoors with a different make from a different company which has corrected the playback issues. So far it is working great. Too bad as I really wanted to have only Wyze cameras and be able to view all my cameras from one app.

Hi for how long does it saved the play backs? My only storeged the last 3 hours the most or the ladt 15 events

Which part of the UI do you mean, though? Like I indicated earlier, if I try to view a recording from the Events tab (tap an event recorded by a Cam Pan v3, then tap the Playback button at the bottom with the SD card icon), then that’s when I often briefly see the “No video at the selected time.” message. Usually that seems to self-resolve, but that isn’t always my experience (as I noted).

If, however, I work from the Home tab, select a Cam Pan v3, and then tap the SD Card control below the Live Stream pane (at the left edge of the strip), then I see below that the vertical green bar (on the right) indicating my continuous microSD recordings, and I can scroll up and down through that and see “Motion” and “Sound” events tagged.

If you’re not seeing that then I wonder if you had an app update that’s hosed, because others on the Forum have reported broken features after recent app updates, prompting them to uninstall the app, reboot the phone, and reinstall the app. I don’t know if that would have any effect on your issue or not (maybe not, because you’ve indicated problems with these cameras since last year), but if I was experiencing the frustration you’ve been dealing with, then it’s something I might consider trying.

Thanks Crease! I will try reinstalling the app! I think that’s about the only thing that I haven’t tried! If I go to an event that comes up for one of my pan v3 cameras, it will play or can be viewed. If I then hit the playback button at the bottom, it comes up No video at the selected time. If I go into the camera from the Home Screen and then tap recent events, it will show those events and allow me to view them. If I tap the sd card icon from the recent events screen it does not show the vertical green bar or any events, it just shows, No video at the selected time and the vertical time line on the left side but doesn’t show anything on that or will not play or let me view anything on that time line.

Well I deleted the app and reinstalled it on my iPhone and I still am getting the same problems! I guess maybe I will try resetting my cameras back to factory state and try again. I am at a loss!

That’s frustrating. I didn’t know if uninstalling and reinstalling the app would have any benefit or not, but I figured it might be worth trying. I hope you’re able to find a solution, because I’m puzzled by this.
