Cameras OFFline Today 04/15/24 21:53

All of my v3 cameras are back online and operating properly.

Older cams work, newer with that crappy interface are offline, however notifications go thru, events are recorded to cloud. When i keep tapping camera eventually i get live stream, but when i reopen app my BCP is offline

Actually, that’s not what happened to me. I have a v4, multiple v3s and a one v2 that is on. The only cam that went offline is the v2. All the rest were fine. And it’s that fact that made me think that the v2 was having a hardware issue. I neglected to look online to see if there was an outage. (I wasted an hour trying to re-setup the v2, which wouldn’t work because of the outage.)

Of interesting note is the v2 is the last cam I updated with new firmware. Not that the firmware was the issue, but that it may have reconnected, after the update, to a server cluster that got dinged by the outage. Just a guess on the cause, but clearly the age of the equipment has nothing to do with being impacted. (Also, I have multiple cam groups, and only the group I created recently showed offline.)

All my Wyze cams are back on line today. Yay! Thanks Wyze team.

None of my cameras work still

It’s happening again - cams worked today but once again have gone offline tonight.

FFS

While this is fine and all, it would still be nice if Wyze could send us a text message to get our attention about it. This would lessen the stress of being away from home and not being able to connect to your cameras and thinking the worst.

Was searching with Google to see what my issue may be and wound up here. as of 4/17 my 3 cameras and Thermostat are all showing offline.

My camera has not worked since after installation. Now the camera is saying Unknown Status and I can’t even see out the camera at all keep saying disconnected when the camera is connected. WHY this same problem since 2022? And Home Depot is still selling this faulty WYZE camera. WHY?

How did that happen? who did you talk with, emailed???
My camera is still saying UNKNOWN STATUS only on 1 of 2 cameras.

All but one of my cams are back online now. The one that is “offline” is of course the one that is hard wired with no power switch other than a breaker, and no way to physically access other than a ladder.

It will flash the current image sometimes then immediately says offline - which it clearly isn’t if it flashes the current image.

So I’ll wait to see if Wyze can fix the backend, it is a bit frustrating…

Was observing behavior of my 30 odd cameras since the Apr 15, 2024 issue.
For me the least impacted cameras were OG, OG Tele, and Pan Cam 3.
All V2, and Pan Cam cameras came back online by Apr 16, followed by the V3s, and V4 late Apr 16.
The last camera for me to come back online were the Floodlight Pro on April 17.

With all the camera issues lately, many of the outages attributed by Wyze to AWS, the Wyze ecosystem and the AWS ecosystem reliability appear to be decreasing.

I am running beta App on IOS, with latest beta camera firmwares.

I have three cameras set up in my home. Ive experienced minor issues here or there like one camera going out occasionally but i would just unplug and replug and that would solve the issue. Not this time. At around 9:30 pm on the 15th, my cameras started turning all by themselves, and started resetting over and over again. I always check my playback and have been able to see how much available space I had on my sd card in the one camera I have it in. Barely did i have any events listed but i could always rely on the playback feature which I have used all the time for the past two years. NEVER MISSED A PLAYBACK…UNTIL NOW.

My cameras finally turned back on around 3:30 am, and when i got to my job at 6 am, i checked to make sure they were still which they were, but now all my settings were changed, and all the video clips, pictures i took, and all of my footage from playback was all gone. I originally bought the camera to keep an eye on my dog as well as my husband who has seizures. My dog passed away not to long ago but i had some video clips of her saved including my last moment with her before we had to have her put down.

But all of them is now gone somehow and no, my sd card was not full. Now, i keep finding events images, not videos like in second by second frames just rapidly piling up and no matter that i turn off event recording, it turns itself back on and my sd card keeps filling up rapidly. I dont know what else to do to fix this and customer service was no help to me either.

I am beyond angry now. I lost footage of my last moment with my dog, all my saved clips, and events will not stop recording. I think i will invest in three ring cameras. I sincerely regret investing in this product and i will never recommend this company to anyone.

Mine have stopped ALL event recording since 4/11/24.

I’ve officially HAD IT with all the Wyze problems. Sure, they’re cheaper than competitors.** But the SERVICE - or LACK OF SERVICE - is beyond shocking. Horrendous. I can’t believe a “business” is being run like this. It really looks a lot like what happens when my middle school students create software or products that we get to play with & test. But there are FAR MORE PROBLEMS in EVERY SINGLE WYZE “update” THAN IN ANY MIDDLE SCHOOL KID’S FINAL PROJECT!

It’s appalling. I’ve waited & waited & waited for Wyze to figure out how to run this sort of business. But I’m done.

I wish I knew which products were being used by other users of these forums who post about switching to competitors.** I know lots of them say “I’m done” & move on to competitors’ products. But I don’t know what products they turn to next. Is anybody interested in knowing what I (and others) switch to when we finally wave goodbye to Wyze?

** Saying “competitors” is giving Wyze far more credit than it deserves. In the past few years, it sure seems like Wyze is set up specifically, intentionally to frustrate users so much that they switch to different products. Like maybe Ring bought Wyze & is trying to p*ss off so many Wyze users that we jump ship & become Ring customers? It sure feels like that lately, eh? I mean… To have a “service” that breaks more often than a middle school student’s final project is just… Well… Worth a helluva lot le$$ than I paid for these cameras.

Sheesh. Dealing with Wyze problems has been one of the most frustrating “customer service” experiences of my entire life.

11 of my 14 at my hotel are off line. All 4 at my house are offline. Not sure about this wyze stuff? Im about ready to get rid of them and do a better camera with a better company. Id be very interested in another camera that people are going to. These cameras are used for security. When they dont work… well its hard to rely on them

my neighbor’s camera, which i share, showed offline on the app but still showed livestream. the day before i had a couple showing offline with no live stream

I decided just to redo the setup late yesterday, as all cameras and thermostat were all showing off line.
Set all cameras first and they all connected and are now showing online. It even retained all the setups and shares from the initial setup, but I did make sure to name them the same during setup, maybe that’s why.
The thermostat was a little trickier as it took me to the installation part and had to go through all the identifying steps just to get to make a new wifi connection.
Everything is now showing online

And this right here along with their data breach is why I use Google nest cameras. Maybe a little more pricier but you have less of this issue

The fact you had to go through that “re-setup” process to get devices back online is why I would never buy a Wyze thermostat or any Wyze device that is installed outdoors. I’m OK with a few cams inside facing outside (ie easy access), but the reliability of their products/services is just not what it needs to be.

As an aside, can someone explain why when this AWS outage occurred, and I was trying to (unnecessarily) re-setup my v2, it refused to connect to my Wi-Fi? Why is a backend service involved in device connection to Wi-Fi?

The fact that their devices are so tied to backend services to do anything is EXACTLY why their architecture is so prone to failure.

Strange that my doorbell camera just came online in the web based app. It has never shown there before today in the past two years. I am still missing my 2 newest outdoor cameras that were working last week. Di 2 out of 10 are down on the web page.
All looks fine on the Android app.

Regarding Nest, I had a nest doorbell fail after 15 months. I have had 2 outdoor cameras fail after 2-3 years. I have had an expensive nest learning thermostat fail after about 5 years. No manufacturer is really immune from problems.
