Every one of my v3 cameras will detect motion in the exclusion zone. They all have been doing it since i purchased them 3 years ago and about to cancel my services with wyze because i have to keep my cameras off or they get alerts every two minutes. Ive tried reaetting all of them and it still picks up my bushes or wind chimes. Ive tried to contact wyze and all they keep saying is they want log reports yet give me no help
Do you maybe have it inverted? The greyed out areas are the “ignore” areas. Others have made that mistake so just making sure.
Note that sometimes motion near the edge of the detection zone will actually be in it as far as the camera is concerned. If you turn on motion tagging (green box) and the green box goes into the detection zone, it will consider that in the zone (at least that seems to be the case with most of the cams). So it is possible for it to record motion “in the zone” when the object itself never actually enters the zone.
In addition to what @dave27 said, I’d add that sharing pictures here can be helpful. If you’re comfortable sharing a screenshot of how you have your Detection Zone set and also a video or screen grab of an event that you didn’t expect to capture (because you expected it to be excluded by the Detection Zone you set), then other eyes in the Forum can better assist with troubleshooting.
I’d add if possible when sharing a picture, make sure motion tagging is enabled (so the green box is visible).
Oh, yeah, for sure. I definitely should’ve mentioned that. Good call.
Its not inverted, and the motion isn’t near the edges. There is no motion tagging as well. Anything in the grey area still sets off my alerts and records
Its nothing to misinterpret, right in the center of the greyed your exclusion zone it picks up motion. This is the only camera ive had problems with.
In that case, you can try the “reset services” option under the camera, but I’d probably delete, factory reset, and re-add the camera. Preferably using a slightly different name so it doesn’t download any prior settings from the Wyze servers (not sure that guarantees it but can’t hurt).
Another route to try is to clear cache in the app, log out, clear data and cache for the app in your OS then log back into the app again. Or just uninstall and reinstall it which should accomplish the same thing.
Just to be clear; it’s not an exclusion zone. It’s not even a detection zone. It should properly called, 'trigger zone". and that may explain what the problem is.
The way Wyze implemented this zone, it doesn’t mean motion/objects outside the zone won’t get tagged. Any motion inside the zone (even reflections) would trigger a search for objects in the entire frame.
