So I have a pan v3 camera and today I had to unplug it because I needed the to plug something else in the wall. Well I continued to get notifications that the camera was still detecting motion. But that’s impossible, right? It’s unplugged, it had no electricity to allow it to function. So how is it able to detect motion and send me notifications about it? So it got me thinking, is the app programmed to send notifications randomly for the purposes of making you believe that it’s a necessity to our daily safety needs? Has anyone else had this happen to you?
Welcome @itisiyoyo
It could be that the servers processing the events is backed up and you are receiving delayed notifications.
Also, are you sure it is that camera and not another, assuming you have others.
^ likely this I have had delayed notifications as far as an hour after the event and longer one that I posted an image of somewhere on this forum.
Recently? I will report this to Wyze as well
It was some time ago, now they lag my other cameras by minimum of 15 seconds and occasionally have a delayed notification of a minute or so randomly
The other cams are nearly instantaneous, but they are self-hosted so no server delay
I reported anyway so they can check to see if there is an issue. I am not experiencing any delays, currently.
It doesn’t matter to me, all my Wyze cams are going to be removed in the near future. Like the Tapo’s far better and I will be swapping the wyze cams out.
Not a problem. If there is an issue, I would rather Wyze get on top of it now. ![]()
Why the Tapo’s?
Reolink’s 4k’s are my main security cameras, I have 9 cams that give 13 views (4 cams have dual cameras)
The Tapo’s will be for areas not requiring a professional grade camera. As they are comparable in price to Wyze cams and meet my needs. Far more reliable than the V3’s
I’m moving away from cloud and subscription based models
Home automation is via Hubitat hub
Reolink & Tapo for the camera ecosystem
Besides storing on cam SD I also backup to an NAS drive
Will eventually add the Reolink AI hub recently announced that can search your videos for you. An example would be “show all persons in a red shirt”
I guess we can add this to the list of Wyze conspiracy theories. You can easily look at the time displayed on the notification, in the image itself, to see when the event actually happened. Or if easier go look at that event in the app and zoom in on the timestamp. As @spamoni says, the most likely explanation is that you just had a backlog of alerts, either a wyze server issue or your internet wasn’t keeping up (or your phone had totally lost connectivity and when it reconnected, the backlog all came through).
