He must be expensive, he’s been with Geek Squad for 30 years. To be that long at Geek Squad you must know thing or two about networking. Who on their right mind would stay for 30 years at Geek Squad? It’s like working the concession stand at the movies for 30 years
If he has been at Geek Squad for 30 years, he probably had to help people with this (new back then) software.
He must be the founder as Geek Squad was formed by 1 guy in 1994. You’d think as the founder, he’d have promoted himself a bit higher by now.
My favorite part about this is that you all took the time to come here and dump on someone, and their profession, because you don’t agree with what I’ve said. For whatever it’s worth, he stays there because he hit tenure at 20 years, his job is guaranteed, he makes 6 figures, has a fully vested 401k, a pension, paid for medical benefits, and 2 months of vacation every year. He holds multiple networking certifications and could easily leave anytime, he doesn’t because he works for a good company that takes care of him. For the record, Best Buy owns Geek Squad and that’s been his employer over those 30 years. He’s been in the same role that entire time.
Honestly, y’all sound ridiculous and should be kind of ashamed. I didn’t owe you this explanation, but I’m giving it to you anyways as an opportunity to grow a little and not talk about things you don’t know about. Like other people’s profession’s and livelihoods, especially just because you disagree with someone on the internet.
And nope, it wasn’t expensive, he’s just a very good friend.
Good luck to y’all, you’re all just a little bit sad.
Impressive. A pension and 401K. Anybody can make 6 figures, but investments are impressive.
This is the either complete nonsense that you’re willing to spout in an effort to gain internet clout on the checks notes Wyze forums, or it’s one of the most entitled things I’ve ever read.
The good news is this response also made it very clear nothing you say should be taken seriously. I will continue to trust the known professional who has worked in this field his entire career rather than randos on a cherrypicked forum.
Y’all are embarrassing. Tootles.
If this guy is the cream of the crop of these forums, I’ll gladly lol myself out and just stick to Reddit.
Enjoy your insights. Thanks for participating. It livens the forum.
It says so, so very much about you and these forums that you consider this weird bit of back-and-forth internet drama a form of “livening” things up. Go troll trade chat or something lol.
This is fun. You keep coming back. Thank you.
Most of the people on this forum either come to ask for help, offer help, vent or troll. From your posts, I can’t figure out what group you belong to. Care to enlighten me?
Probably stop trying to lump people into pre-determined groups then idk. Like when you tried to look down on an entire company and their long-term employees AND people who work at concession stands at the same time when reality is you don’t know anything about the company or people you’re trying to belittle. Honestly, that was impressive.
I simply commented and offered my own experience to a user or users who were having similar issues. I’ll acknowledge getting snarky with Dave, but the response to my not agreeing with him has been pathetic. Offering snark in return is one thing, what you all did, jumping on someone’s profession and trying to tear it and him down in order to defend… what I’m not sure… is a glaring indictment on the integrity and validity of these forums. Ultimately, I’m not surprised, the internet is the internet no matter what, but you hope some places are less Twitter-like than others. Obviously not the case here.
I won’t be responding again. Say whatever super clever things you have to say in response and tell yourselves you won or something lol. Have wonderful lives, everyone. <3
Good. Same here. We went way off topic.
I am sorry if you took my Windows 95 above post as negative. It was meant to be complimentary. Anytime someone stays in the same career field for 30 years or more they get a “tip of the hat” from me. Heck, I changed career fields a couple of times before retiring.
Your 30 years comment made me think of my now 32 year old daughter that learned how to use a computer with Windows 95. Showing my daughter how to use a computer with that OS is why Win 95 will always have a special place in my heart.
I suppose typing on the internet truly is hard to convey feelings.
Damn, y’all really crapped all over my thread. But I think I got most of my questions answered, at least until I get back up to the cabin and can try some different arrangements. Cheers.
Alright, I’ma break my rule and respond one more time just to 1) apologize for ruining your thread but 2) tell you to enjoy that cabin up in Blue Ridge (I’m just guessing based off the username haha - local Atlanta kid here too!)
Please accept my apologies. I am guilty of participating in splintered off topic discussions on many Wyze forum threads.
Glad to hear you got most of your questions answered.
Hey, Digression is my middle name (along with Procrastination) — but let’s be kind to each other.
