Last week or so I’m unable to pinch to zoom in on either live video or recorded events. Camera says it’s up to date, I’ve restarted several times, no luck. What’s the fix for this? AI support was garbage and just repeated that the camera can’t zoom but only pinch to zoom, which is my issue. I have a Moto One 5G if that matters.
Restarted the camera, sorry. Yes, pinch to zoom working correctly on everything else. Just the Wyze app isn’t working. I can try restarting my phone in the morning and see if that clears it up
I wonder if this is an app version issue. What you’re describing about the zoom feature with Cam v3 seems like one of the issues discussed in New app layout is a mess. As an Android user, you could try reverting to an earlier app version to see if that fixes the issue, but I’d also be inclined to post some feedback to whichever announcement topic in Wyze News corresponds with whatever app version is displaying this unwanted behavior.
I’ll give that a look. I restarted my phone and that didn’t help. I do know it said the app is up to date, just don’t remember what version it said or when it updated.
However, I randomly found out that if I do the camera full screen I can pinch to zoom. If it’s in the non-full screen view I can’t pinch to zoom. In full screen, it will zoom but it kinda flies off to the side for some reason. So the zoomed section shoves itself into the upper left corner of my phone screen, and I have to drag it back over. It makes it look like it’s zooming the ENTIRE screen, including the black space that frames the video feed. It’s very strange.
What you’re describing definitely seems buggy to me. In several recent topics (I think in the Wyze News and Beta categories about recent app releases), I’ve read some discussion about how Cam v3’s UI has changed and then reverted, but I don’t own that specific Cam model and haven’t witnessed that personally. Someone from Wyze also mentioned in the recent Reddit AMA that they’re working toward a more unified interface going forward, so I wonder if what some Cam v3 users have been reporting is part of that.
At this point I’m just speculating, though, and I don’t know how useful that is.
I’d still recommend looking up your app version. In Android, you can do that at least two different ways:
Long-press the launcher icon for the Wyze app, then select App info from the pop-up menu. Scroll to the bottom of the App info screen (depending on your Android version, it may be necessary to tap a to expand), and the version should be displayed there.
In the Wyze app, tap Account ➜About. The app version should be beneath the Wyze logo at the top.
Once you know what version you’re using (what’s being affected by this apparent change), you can then find the relevant topic in Wyze News (assuming you’re using a production app and not a beta release) for your app version and post there to let Wyze know this is a problem.
Another fun update, now it only does it on the live feed. I can zoom correctly on events, but not live feed. Previously I’ve been able to do it regardless of what video I was watching.
