3 rd time now, brand new V 4 cam worked initially ( set up completed) but then failed to power on after a few minutes. Confirmed it was the camera after extensive troubleshooting, cable & power plug verified good as well as swapped with known good ones. Camera seemed to be getting very warm. Not sure what’s going on here, anyone else?
I would try contacting our customer support team, especially since this is a new device. You can contact them at 206-339-9646 or support.wyze.com.
Jason,
To clarify, this happened with 3 separate brand new cameras. I returned them promptly for a refund. Not having any luck with the V4 cams….
Can’t help but wonder if it a quality escape issue?
Thank you.
Since all three units became warm and then stopped, check whether a failed camera will recover only after cooling completely, with the microSD card removed for that test. A repeatable time-to-failure followed by recovery after cooling would be useful evidence of a thermal or power-regulation fault rather than another cable issue. Stop powering any unit that becomes unusually hot, and record the elapsed time and ambient temperature for support.
Are you using the included adapter and cable or something else? Seems unlikely to have 3 separate cameras have the exact same issue. Getting hot sounds like a power issue.
