V4 Cameras - No power

I have 2 v4 cameras purchased roughly 6 months apart Dec 2024.

Both are showing not connected via app therefore cannot turn off/on, no LEDs, no sign of life. I have replaced both power sources (with same or more output) and cables…both dead.

Is there any replacement options…guessing that is questionable by the number of frustrated users in this forum.

Did they both die at the same time? If so that heavily points to a power surge/problem that caused it. There isn’t really any camera or device that is going to handle that better or worse than any other (at least not that can be measured and quantified in any meaningful way).

What are you referring to by frustrated users? I haven’t seen any pattern of this model dying more than any other? Mine’s at about 1.5 years so far of 24x7 recording.

Do yourself a big favor that will pay for itself in no-mo-cam problems. Get a couple of 2.1 amp power adapters on Amazon. Get the ones with more than one port, but use only one. Boost the power going to your camera. Many of us believe the Wyze adapter is marginal.

Surprisingly I’ve been using the stock adapters for almost 2 years on most of my cams without issue. I do have pretty reliable and clean power though.

Regarding power - 6mos between deaths so no correlation to a power surge. Again, swapped in higher output adapter (never go lower then mfg recommended) with no luck.
Meaning of frustrated users- For me, over the course of 5yrs I had a v3 die after 2.5yrs, recently, 2 mentioned, v4s now dead.
Others- While searching for answers to the current v4 issue, about %65 of the messaging I read (via forms), was related to general issues and how frustrated users were with the cameras performance and customer service.

Question - I added SD cards to all. Never subscribe to services. Seems like a stretch, but could that have any impact?

Yes Wyze is a mess without subscription, that’s how Wyze works…

This has nothing to do with a subscription. Why even comment this?

You sure about this?

Both V3 pans I had used to work recording to SD

Dropped Cam Plus Unlimited and the cams started having random issues of stopping recording to SD which a power cycle usually fixed…

Over time the power cycle or reformat began to not restore recording to SD, eventually it became to much of an issue to have to check (babysit) the camera’s so I gave away all my V3 pans

Those Same SD cards have been working fine in the Reolink’s they moved to, so Not a SD card issue…

Wyze purposely built their ecosystem around having a subscription to be fully functional so I wouldn’t put it past Wyze to pull other tricks to dissuade customers from not going without a subscription.

Wyze became a shady company after or about the time the V3 came out.

EDIT: OOPS:flushed_face: Somehow I cross posted in this power adapter link, but I still stand by my statements about Wyze

Why I responded as I did above…

Wyze is Shady

No SD card has nothing to do with it, I run SD cards with no subscription without issues.

It is possible the power in your area just isn’t very clean so starting from day 1 with a higher quality USB power supply might help extend the longevity of your cams. That’s obviously just a guess though, and it can be hard to determine which power adapters are “high quality” vs. others, but the usual suspects like Anker tend to make pretty robust ones.

For me personally I’ve had several models of cam going for years without any problems but I have very reliable and clean power. I know several in this forum have gotten small battery banks to put between the wall adapter and the cam (mostly for power outages but it also helps filter the power to the cam) so that may be an option too, you just need to pick one that has pass through charging ability (output is not disabled while it is plugged into the wall).
