I didn’t get the hat. All I got was this crappy camera.
The sd lot is on the bottom under a white flap of rubber
Wyze has lots of videos on timelapse
I am amazed, thought it had to remain in travel mode whilst recording
Chinese mfgr it supposedly to Wyze specs but it is nearly identical to the Xiami sold in china and on Banggood… Wyze is doing firmware/software and poorly at that.
Someone said it was coming, not sure if it was Wyze, or a non employee… I have asked twice now for a timeline, and no response. It would be nice to actually hear from Wyze on this…
Not having View/Playback is a MAJOR hit for me. What will happen is that users will start to switch from Wyze to something else which does allow playback/view.
I have decided to cancel my order for 2 additional Outdoor Cams. The product is immature and not working as the design specifies. I have had difficulties in movement detection and event postings. Whilst I think that I have done everything correctly, and attempted to work with support, it has become apparent to me that this product needs a lot of work based upon this forum.
I will retain and continue to use my outdoor cam, in the hope that Wyze will remedy the issues. Once it becomes apparent that they have or have not made the necessary changes, I will make my next decision as to whether to expand my installation.
I purchased with AmazonPay. When Wyze support refused to respond to request for return RMA and shipping label, I went through Amazon Pay - and Amazon’s message to Wyze was returned as undeliverable! Wyze is now not even responding to Amazon. I am feeling confident that AmazonPay will honor the A-to-Z Guarantee and issue a refund for the POS outdoor cam.
On the process of returning my WOC. It is not even connecting. The camera is always on sleep mode and if you try to live stream it, seldom will it connects and even didn’t detect motions. This is a trash Cam. I regretted backing up this trash.
I read one post by a person who had continual problems with their product and someone at support had them download a ‘test’ firmware that fixed the issue. Why, I wonder would Wyze not release it publicly to indicate that they are actively working to improve the product line…
I have a friend who ordered 4 cameras, and he said that if they don’t contain the video playback features the V2 cameras do, he will be returning them… i.e., the 12 second playback, and the ability to download the video from the SD card.
I may not have gone Wyze cam at all had I known the outdoor camera would be so limited in functionality.

edit: redacted beta related.
Well, I would rather NOT go by past performance so I will remain optimistic.
It’s better to let a known bad firmware sit out on client devices then to push out an untested firmware.
I don’t know this is there thinking, but is common in hardware development.
Mine works flawlessly it’s been up over 2 weeks now catches all movement sends all notifications & after 2 weeks I still have 96% battery left. I have not got but one complaint which is person detection I wish it had that.
In the app, account tab, services, person detection (pilot) do you not have the outdoor cam available to enable person detection?
I will first say that my 2 OCs do not function as I would anticipate or like. Their detection is subpar, and the time between expected motion detection and captured video is abysmal…ina I have 3 V2 and one PAN so I have a good sense on how they all function.
The expectation that many users here seem to have about similar functionality is wrong.
The OC is NOT capturing video all of the time, so there is no play-back. The motion detection is not done from video pixel changes, as is done in the V2. The video is off until the integrated PIR detects; or you use the app for a live view, or there is some other triggering event such as rules or time-lapse…This also leads to the apparent abysmal detection…there is no “pre-detection”, as the motion sense is all reactive.
The OC is able to maintain battery life by powering down everything except the PIR.
On the other-hand, the V2 is much more responsive, as the video capture is on all the time. It uses pixel changes to sense that there is some movement, and that starts the 12-second clip. If you have noticed, there is also a ~3-4 second “pre-detection” buffer, so it actually captures the scene before the motion-triggering event occurs.
I think your reply was meant to be a general comment to this thread?
While the V2 is more responsive it is arguably too responsive. It will capture everything you would want but it also captures a lot of stuff you probably don’t want (shadows, quick changes in lighting, bugs, wind blowing plants etc.). If you need to see everything that happens in a large area, the V2 works just fine and anywhere I could easily run power to I would probably use a V2 with a sense motion sensor next to it instead of the outdoor cam.
All that being said, anywhere that would be difficult to run power to or if running power was not asthetically pleasing I would go with an outdoor camera. If you take into consideration the range limits and characteristics of PIR detection and place the camera in such away to focus on a specific area (like an entrance, driveway, side of house etc.) the outdoor camera can work well. My outdoor camera is working pretty great actually.
While my experience with the outdoor cam has been positive I don’t doubt that some users are having real issues. Some issues might be due to too high expectations for a battery powered camera, others might be a placement problem and some issues definately sound like defects (battery dead under a week, no events/rear camera LED doesn’t light up even when waving inches from camera etc.)
Thanks for pointing that out. Didn’t notice it before
Great explanation but it begs the question, outside of being transportable thanks to battery, it fails to deliver
