Bobcat Prowling

This is how it starts! Identify cutout targets to impugn with our own nefarious actions… nothing to see here

If @carverofchoice wasn’t a Maven he’d kick our ass. He holds back for the good of the community.

Well said, by the way… :+1:

Please elaborate about the alleged whooping to be administered?

I’m not sure whence he summons what he summons but from wherever it is there’s a LOT of it. Monsoons of it. Tsunamis of it. He is… OCEANIC.

And a bit like Clark Kent.

An awesome force for good doing a mundane job by day.

Let’s see if he can live up to that.

I share things I know for the good of the community, I hold back for my own good .

Let this be a lesson to you, @peepeep ; Allow your opponent to make the first move whilst you observe (particularly after provocation). Your counter-move will then be that much more informed…

Totally functional.

I found it interesting that I could log in to Firefox for Android on another device and see my original videos at the top perfectly. Desktop browser, not so much under LMDE v5.

Wondering if this phenomenon is something in Android that compensates for wyze mpeg formatting quirk / subtype?

When the Wyze app creates the mp4 file, the mp4 container is correct, but there’s something wrong with the encoding. I suspect it’s a bug in whatever they use to encode. There must be 2 different code plug-ins used because a standard Event file displays correctly, but a manually recorded video does not. How did you capture the file you are uploading?

Sun Tzu agrees with you:

…*the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself…

Be extremely subtle, even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious, even to the point of soundlessness. Thereby you can be the director of the opponent’s fate.

Engage people with what they expect; it is what they are able to discern and confirms their projections. It settles them into predictable patterns of response, occupying their minds while you wait for the extraordinary moment - that which they cannot anticipate.

He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious.

Wait by the river long enough and the body of your enemy will float by you.

He will win who, prepared himself, waits to take the enemy unprepared.

Thus the expert in battle moves the enemy, and is not moved by him.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

…It is best to win without fighting.

But best of all is to not create nor engage in “battle” when it is not necessary:

There are roads which must NOT be followed, armies which must NOT BE ATTACKED, towns which must not be besieged, positions which must not be contested, commands of the sovereign which must not be obeyed.

Wise words to live by. As it relates to the forums I see many people who feel they must “contest certain positions” as Sun Tzu said. Often it is much better to stay silent and let something go, than to “die on a hill” that is frivolous and unimportant. Often becoming too emotionally charged in a conversation causes a person to defeat themselves, especially if the other person stays disengaged.

If you try to hand someone a gift and they don’t accept it, then the gift stays with you, and they do not have it at all. Likewise, if a person tries to pass you their anger, and you don’t accept it (you remain emotionally disengaged), then it all remains with them, affecting only them and you do not have it all. A person can try to hurt you by gifting you their anger, but you do not need to accept that gift and can leave it with them. This is among the greatest self-defense secrets to dealing with those who weaponize words and emotions, especially on the internet.

So related to forums like this. Someone else may start trying to be provocative, but there is no need to engage with attacking, we can refuse to accept those “gifts” and just leave that battle for our great mods.

The Art of War

Speculation is that you’ve hit the nail on the head here. Indeed, these captures were manual recordings while viewing live feed. I was somewhat hindered by the fact that bobcats aren’t known for their compliance with 12-second cloud clips subject to cool-down periods :joy_cat:

Entirely possible that I could’ve let things be and gone back to review & record clips later, but also likely those captures would’ve been subject to the same malfunction :man_shrugging:t2:

I struck while the iron was hot since there was no telling how long that cat would hang around… Ha!

And if you can’t convince 'em, confuse 'em by burying them with sheer quantity… :grinning:

I’ll bring this problem up to Wyze. But it will take a few days to compile and who knows how long to fix.

Thanks for helping in the role of guinea pig and letting me play in your space! thumbsup2

One thing I’ll add is that I am now also able to see all of these videos in-line under Chrome for Android. This was not previously possible. Curious about whether you had to modify the files in any way?

EDIT-1: My ability to view these videos under Chrome was made possible by @Seapup massaging the files to render properly. Any browser should work at this point.

BTW, I converted your file with homegrown code that I can’t share. But if you want a temporary fix, use an online converter for your manually recorded files before uploading. A commonly used tool that is safe is Online Video Converter. Just click the Open File button, find your mp4 file, leave Video and Audio settings as is and click Convert and download. Then post on forum.

Yeah, I have a number of conversion tools used for various projects over the years. Good to know that I’ll need to put them to use for now until the app gets fixed… :+1:t2:

When converting, the output video stream codec needs to be “H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part10) (avc1)” to work in Chrome and most other browsers. The audio stream doesn’t really matter.

BTW… I tested that function (manual recording from SD) and it has the same issue. The only files created that don’t have an issue are the downloaded cloud Event files.
