Blurry image

Hi all
Brand new wyze user here. I have 2 cams, 1 pointing out my window which is great, and one inside the house which is blurry on the right hand side. I’ve repositioned this one and always get a blurry image on the same side. Is this a fault?

Sorry to be obvious, but have you made sure the shipping film has been removed and then cleaned the lens with a soft cloth. Sometimes the shipping film leaves a residue.

Thanks Loki, no need to be sorry :grinning: the film has been removed. I’ll give it a clean with a camera lense cleaner tonight and see if that helps and will report back.

Ok, gave it a good clean and unfortunately no improvement.
Next I’ll try the other cam (has a very clear image, pointing outside through a window) in this location to rule out any other factors.

This is marked as ‘Solution’. Was the solution to replace the camera? Cleaning didn’t work.

I’m not sure why it was marked as solution. I unmarked it.

Text is always blurry, it is sort of like Google street view blurs license plates, mailbox and house numbers, people’s faces. I am not sure this is not part of the camera technology. I posted views of blurred text on a vehicle passing on the street and the rose on the logo was perfectly legible. Even still shots seem to somewhat have this blurry effect on text. Test it and I think you’ll agree. Google sat view used to be crystal clear on zoom view, not anymore. I mean, unless you’re NSA.

Hope this helps,

Thanx,

The truck number is blurry, the text is all blurry, the phone numbers are all blurry, except the little rose, it seems to be fairly clear. The focus can be easily identified by the sharp white fringing around the rose as in focus. Everything else is blurry. And let us all remember it is a 20 dollar camera. I also think you’ll find, unless you go to 4K Ultra HD cameras, or a Nikon installed in your wall professionally, you’re likely to find similar quality from other more expensive video surveillance system cameras as well.

Looks like a camera issue. I moved the other wyze cam to the same spot - the image difference is easy to see. Look at the plant and the toy digger.

Is this an acceptable variation between cameras?

That number flicks around all the time without affecting the image. Just checked and it’s currently between 108 and 149 - image quality is the same.

We do notice a slight difference between our 6 cameras. Some have a sharper focus than others, and have been moved to multiple areas for testing as well. Sometimes the outside cameras will seem blurry, and other times clearly focused. Some cameras seem to focus better at closer range and some seem to focus better at a distance. The number in question is the bandwidth being used by the camera over WiFI and has nothing to do with the actual (still shot) quality of the camera image(s). I believe both images are 2340 x 1080 - 1.22MB.

Hope this helps,

You might want to try swapping the two camera’s positions as very slight differences in angle can impact the compression due to variations in reflectivity and shading. See if the blurriness stays with the camera or the position.

I’ve moved this camera several times even into completely new locations and it always has a blurrier image in the right hand side of the frame.
No worries, it’s still an awesome camera but just doesn’t seem to provide an HD image.
I’ll be ordering a couple more once the Aussie dollar strengthens a bit more so might move this one to one of the kid’s rooms or maybe the garage.

Probably just a bad lens. You could get Wyze to exchange it, but unfortunately, they can’t ship outside the US.

Thanks Loki. Fair enough, I just hope I got unlucky this time and won’t have the same problem with the next order.

You camera has myopia, please take it to the eye doctor

Does it look the same when you view the playback in HD versus SD?

Yep, the same in HD and SD

I am curious as the issue as well mine is the exact same problem right out of the box.

Mine has the same issue. It’s nice from you to a foot then everything is blurry. I think it’s a lens problem.

Out of the box the Cam 3 is blurry across the entire image. My Cam 2 is perfect. Different locations same results
