Mom selects a bird to get fed by looking down their throats. Then she will go in the house to retrieve the bird’s poop. Usually they poop right after being fed. Their poop comes out in a little baggie thing. After mom feeds a bird she will go in and get it and fly it far away. This chick at the bottom left is the one to watch.
She is feeding them with the same beak that removes their poop.

Won’t be long now. Maybe today or tomorrow. The chicks will fledge within a few hours of each other.
Guess they don’t mind being sat on. There IS another chick at the bottom of the pile.

After my wife was born, her grandmother on her mother’s side told my wife’s dad “that’s enough” This was coming from a woman who had 5 children.
When one of my friends heard that my sister had her third child, he said, “Tell her it’s not a clown car.”

One set of my 3X Great grandparents had 12 children between 1814 and 1834. More like a clown bus.

Chicks have fledged. From what ChatGPT states, the chicks will fly to the nearest tree or shrub and mom will continue feeding them for 2 weeks.
Here is a starling checking out the finished apartment. The sparrow spooker is still up, so obviously it does not keep starlings away
I grew up across the street from a family that had 12 children. 11 boys and one girl. The girl was the oldest. The mom had an ironing board permanently in the living room. The upstairs bedroom floor was sagged because of all the children. The mom was a Beverly Hillbilly type who married into money. She wasn’t putting two and two together and didnt associate sex and babies.
Oh, and when you wanted to play with one of them, they ALL came over.

After the big family moved out, a retired policeman and his family moved in. Fast forward a few years and he calls me and asks if I wanted to replace the timing chain in his car. It was in his driveway. Easy Pontiac v8. Had it all back together and started it up. Ran great, then it stalled. No fuel. I left the fuel pump eccentric laying on the ground. So I got to do the job twice and got paid once. I didn’t remove the oil pan to get the pieces of the cam gear but I did tell him to have a shop do it.
Time to clean out the Blue Bird House before the squatters (Sparrows) move in. Maybe you’ll get a new respectable family. My 3RD Great Grandparents that had the 12 children were farmers in the North Brabant Province, Netherlands. Free farm labor x12. The 3X great grandfather out lived all his children by 10 years except two. He died at is his farm in Belgium at the age of 88.
Update on the bluebird house:
Had a sparrow start a nest so I put the sparrow trap inside the house. It needs to be monitored in case a bluebird goes in. Apparently when a sparrow gets trapped it gets stressed. After I let the intruder out, there were no sparrows even peeking their head in.
Then the v3 stopped working. I left the birdhouse door open while I figured out the camera issue. The app said it was offline. I fiddled with the connection and it started working. Then it stopped, so I replaced the cable. It is 25 foot power only with 20 gauge wires.
The problem ended up being caused by something like this but USB
So now the inn is open, we have the very beginning of a new brood.
Dad flies around looking for possible nesting sites. Once he has a few, he shows them to mom. Mom decides and begins making a nest.
Here we have this exact scenario.
I have the v3 running off a 2.0Ah USB power bank for now.

She raised all 6 and I didn’t hear a peep out of her. Get it? Peep? Bird?
The v3 decided to act up again. Finally found the connector on the v3 was the culprit. Squirted some electrical contact cleaner in and exercised the connection. Has been working fine for 2 days. . Once a nest is started, I’m not opening it up.
Good thing I cleaned the house because we have new boarders.
The first brood was started earlier than usual., possibly because we had unseasonably warm weather.
Think there will be 4 or 5 broods?

Better get the mealworm factory in operation for the season. I put silicone grease on all my USB connections that are outdoors before I wrap them in self fusing tape. Same grease plumbers use on faucet O rings and such, no issues in 5+ years.

I usually buy live mealworms from a seller on Amazon. Pricing around, Chewy had the best price. My son has a Chewy membership so I have about 2500 of the wigglers ready in the basement fridge. They go dormant in the cold. MrsG actually let me keep the last batch in the kitchen fridge because I couldn’t make it up and down the basement steps.
