I guarantee it will be crowded before they start fledging. They go from a very small place to the big outdoors.
Is Mom
still sitting on her half dozen eggs ?
Mom has been shuffling the six pack. Sometimes they are in a circle, other times a diamond, rectangle or pyramid. This ensures the egg doesnât sit in one spot too long.
Good job Mom.

Im always amazed by how the mom knows to make the nest, shuffle the eggs, and feed the chicks.
Probably years of learning/instinct if you donât rotate the eggs, the chicks will not hatch.
Here is dad doing one of the few things he does.
I donât have any live mealworms in the feeder. Those only come out when the chicks are hatched. Guess dad found a grub or something.
Order Mom some take out. Extra worms.

I have a cam set up in our bluebird nest box. This is the first year they used this box (we have 3 boxes). This is the first time she has laid 6 eggs. Every other year it has been 4 or 5. Iâm eggcited to watch this !
If you want some tips about things I have learned let me know. I donât want to mansplain. ![]()
Here is Sir ChirpsAlot feeding Bluebonnet.
I donât understand why she flew out after being fed.
And the past broods the male stuck his head in the entrance and she stretched to get the food.
Iâm no expert but this might be the first time for this pair.
Mom probably went to do her own shopping since goofy dad keeps bringing her the same flavor.

Or she had to go crap on my car.
That is one of the drawbacks of this hobby.
Is Mrs. G going name them Larry 1-6. ?

Semi load of live mealworms required.

Over the years, MrsG. refused to let me keep the wigglers in the kitchen fridge. Since I broke my leg and hobble around, she relented and they are dormant upstairs with her bacon, milk and lettuce. The bag is tightly closed so they canât get out. I reach n the bag and grab a handful of the slimy larvae and put them in the feeder.
Mom and dad have been very busy today. They have another source of live wigglers. I see some green wiggly worms from time to time. My live mealworms are popular.
I did a head count just now. All 6 still there. I doubt all 6 will fledge.
It will be very crowded soon.
Birds probably arenât capable of understanding space. Can you imagine being hatched in a little box then learning to fly and then you are out in the wide open.
They need to grow their Larry Fine hair so Mrs. G will be happy and sheâll forget about the worms in the fridge next to her bacon. Tell her to make the chicks some peanut and bacon sandwiches, theyâre great.
