Deja vu
That too.
I hope there won’t be any carnage this time
Normally 4?
Me too. While it was happening MrsG was a few feet from the birdhouse. Sparrows and bluebirds flying around like mad. She is out here swatting sparrows with her hands while one was inside. Still bothers me. Can’t get the image out of my head of the helpless chick laying on its back flailing around. I know for a fact that I felt much more emotion than the momma bluebird.
Let’s see how the sparrow spooker does. So far the company that invented it is right that once an egg is in the house, nothing is keeping momma out.
The sparrows have not been around lately. Momma sparrow must have had eggs ready to drop.
Mom has been busy.
Mom is sitting on the eggs tonight. She usually does that only after all the eggs have been laid. This is so one bird won’t hatch early and have an advantage over the younger birds. She might be sitting on them because it is about 60F here and the eggs like warmth.
Make Mom a little Quilt
The colors of the bottom one kind of make it look like it’s a Wyze Bird Feeder cozy!
I don’t remember what it looks like. The blues and greens in that one were from a variegated yarn where it changes colors every so many inches.
Wow. My wrens had 6 and they all survived.
Feed me!
Mom said she ordered a double. No tip for Dad.
I can’t say I have ever seen mom or dad come into the house with more than one insect. She is probably hungry because she has been sitting on the eggs for quite some time today. It is unseasonably chilly here in the Midwest due to a storm passing by. The sparrow spooker makes some psychedelic reflections inside the birdhouse at night but it doesn’t appear to bother the birds.
