The female creatures always pick the house, even the human ones, trust me.
Keep the sparrow spooker handy.
Sparrows making another nest this morning. I installed the sparrow trap.
The triangular wire has two small pieces that clip on to the spring loaded trap. When the bird sits on the wire, the flap closes, trapping the bird in the house.
I also purchased a mesh bag that fits over the birdhouse so when it is opened the bird flies into the mesh bag for ârecyclingâ
If I trap a bluebird I have to immediately open the house and let it fly out. Not sure if being trapped would stress the bluebird.
Canât wait to see a freaked out sparrow.
Tom, is this like the trap you bought? If so here is a link in case anyone else wants one.
It would stress me
Some time ago I had red squirrels make it into the attic. I set live traps, found one dead inside, Iâm guessing stress induced death.
You are so cruel
Here is a squirrel running on my fence obviously under stress.
I watched the videos on how those traps are supposed to work, including the use of the bag. I wonder if weâll see any new âpanic roomâ videos in the Wyzies.
I think this happened once to a rabbit in the backyard. The dog gave chase and the thing just died without any obvious signs of trauma.
Thatâs the trap. I canât just set it and leave the house. Needs to be monitored. I bought mine right from van ert.
Right now Spectrum is down so I canât see inside the birdhouse.
Maybe the sparrow will bash its own brains in trying to get out so I donât have to. Had told myself that I would be humane but you didnât see the cruelty and carnage. Eye for an eyeâŚ
Good doggie.
Can you find a trap that will catch the door to door solar sales A$$*&^%'S that come by my house twice a week, catch them and make them beat their own brains out? If I wanted solar I would have purchased it a long time ago or I would just use my phone to call an installer. This is 2025, not 1955, I had another two today of them today.
I had a solar sales guy ring my door bell (right below my No Solicitingâ sign) a few months ago. Here is how the interaction went after I opened my door.
Me: didnât you see my No Soliciting sign?
Solar Guy: yes but I am not selling anything.
Me: so I will never have to give your solar company any money?
Solar Guy: well, we will be re-directing money you currently pay to your power company.
Me: I am going to shut my door now because I have to go online and look for a âNo re-directing money signâ.
Trying to find out if this is a sparrows nest or a bluebirds nest. I donât want to remove the wrong nest. Usually sparrow nests are messy with greenery. Blue birds prefer pine needles which
I have an abundance of
Looks like the nest the Blue birds built before but Mom hasnât organized it yet?
I think youâre right. Mom hasnât done the shuffle to arrange the nest, but a definite nest basin is visible. She probably doesnât want to spend the effort to make it neat if that human keeps removing the nest.
Caught mom in the house. Letâs give this another try. The sparrow spppoker is going up right when the first egg is laid.
I have an egg! The sparrow spooker is going up today.
Didnât need the sparrow trap this time. That is what the 2 Philips head screws are for. The trap slides on an off easily.
I guess you listened to Mrs. G this time.
Iâve been married 44 years. I learned to listen about 10 years ago.
The sparrow spooker has just been installed. Mom bluebird has been going in and out all morning. I read that if the spooker is installed before any eggs are laid, the bluebirds wonât use the house. But once there is an egg in the house, she will still go in. Letâs see if that is right. The spooker is attached with clips like used for curtain rods. It just sit in the clips.
Momma bluebird has been going in and out of the house with the sparrow spooker up.
Bluebirds prefer pine needles to make a nest. I have two huge pine trees in the front yard that lose needles a lot. The piece she removed had leaves and didnât belong
