Firstly, I can’t tell you how excited I am that Wyze is rolling out an AFFORDABLE bird feeder alternative to Bird Buddy. I will definitely be buying, but one of the main appeals of the Bird Buddy is onboard software to identify which types of birds are visiting, and keeping a log of those types. I’d love to see this ability. Thank you for this forum.

I was previously unaware of Bird Buddy, so thank you for sharing that. As far as future developments from Wyze are concerned, I guess you can vote and comment on the Wishlist topics that interest you and…
Someone should submit an official wishlist request to track how in demand this request is and see if We can get wise to put a status on whether it is maybe later or in progress, researching or what.
Maybe that should be part of @AnnWithAPlan’s plan.
I have two Birdfy cameras but hate they have a 20 sec limit. What is this recording limit going to be?
I think any limit is likely going to be based upon which Wyze camera(s) and/or subscription(s) you might use and whether or not you’d be recording to microSD, since the Bird Feeder is advertised to be compatible with multiple Wyze camera models:
Compatible with Battery Cam Pro, Cam v3/v4 and Cam Outdoor v1/v2.
TIL: about Bird Buddy. Bird Buddy is neat.
it should be based on your camera and if you have Cam Plus to record to the cloud. Otherwise, you can put an SD Card in the Camera and record Events only. You can change the duration and set a cooldown if needed, if you are using a Battery Cam with a Solar Panel.
Thanks. I do you have cam plus and always make sure I saved to an SD card. It will be interesting to compare.
Just this past weekend, I was trying to figure out how to modify the lens on a version 3 to do just what this will supposedly do.
Yeah, bird buddy is super cool. Super expensive though.
We can do the same or better for way cheaper. We are working on this.
I am prepared for bird identification software! I didn’t know it existed until yesterday. Now I need it! Take my money!
Not sure how Wyze would get their AI to identify specific bird species when it can’t even identify a bird now as a pet. It often can’t identify other pets like large dogs. But lately it has been doing a good job at tagging deer and turkeys as pets. However, it’s only really good at identifying parked vehicles. Maybe it will work right down the road, AI technology is advancing rapidly.
