I turned off detection zone, set motion settings to low and in notifications, I set it to person only ( I don’t need to be alerted to vehicles driving by etc.) and my battery life is at 91 percent after two days. Prior to that, I had every possible detecton set, set detection zones and the battery lasted 48 hours. I also removed my microsd card as I really don’t need 24/7 recording.

Not sure if that helps your situation, but it has drastically helped mine.

Thank you, I will try this, thanks!

Based on another thread that seems to be the only workaround for now.

Apparently turning on detection zone turns on sound events for some reason, and obviously then any sound or even wind blowing will cause an event regardless of what the Detection Zone is set to.

So your other settings probably aren’t related (those cars driving by still have to be uploaded and analyzed, even if you’ve turned off notifications). Disabling the detection zone is likely what made the big difference.

Of course for people on a busy street or with lots of motion from trees, etc, then this workaround probably won’t help much as now it will just be detecting lots of false motion which takes the place of the false sounds.

Let me know how it works out.

I think you’re right about this. Hopefully there will be a fix. I don’t think detection zone worked at all for me. I set it to block out the street where cars go by and it still detected them.

Yeah most likely the sound of the car was triggering the event in that case (if that is in fact the bug).

What was happening to a lot of people, including myself was whenever it detected some other motion, like a person, it would then start detecting all other motion/sound in the view of the cameras ignoring the detection zone like a vehicle.

So i’m installing a fully charged battery with this suggestion, and I will let you all know within a week how it goes with the battery life.

Truthfully, I’m not convinced the detection zone does what it’s supposed to even if it is enabled right now due to the various bugs. Might act as an “ignore” zone for flagging AI events as “person” or whatever, but not stopping the upfront detection of out-of-zone events in the first place. I think all of the motion events are getting sent up regardless of detection zone. And I have sound recording turned off entirely, so I don’t think sound is a factor. I have taken a well-into-the-gray-zone(as in, nowhere near the target zone) flag down, and that does appear that it might be helping battery life some.

According to one of the other threads, enabling detection zone for some reason causes it to start detecting sound events (even if they’re turned off).

Looks like a firmware update was released but no actual firmware update in the app yet. :expressionless:

Well, I’ve installed the firmware update and it’s been a few days. No discernible improvement in battery life, unfortunately.

For me, it is “draining slowly” after the full charge of 90-100% for the first few days and then it starts draining quickly down from 90% to 40% in a span of 1-2 days after that.

It feels like there’s something stuck in a loop somewhere draining the battery life. There could be a bug in the detection zone’s algorithms that may have gotten it stuck in a loop draining the battery life; which also means that it may not happen to everyone until a specific condition is met.

All we can do is submit the logs to Wyze for them to detect the patterns behind the bug.

Submitting logs without opening a ticket with Wyze support is fruitless. Logs tend to disappear in a black hole without a support ticket.

Well, as an update, I got about 10 days of battery life out of the Duo Cam after the update. Again, I WANT TO KNOW what settings I have to have this on to get those promised “up to 3 months” of battery life…

I don’t think anyone here knows what settings they used in testing. But regardless it seems there is a bug with this camera where it is recording events that it shouldn’t be and that would definitely wear down the battery. If you submit a log then open a support case with Wyze, it will help them get the firmware fixed more quickly.

I have. Multiple times. So have other people, I hope. However all I get back is a tutorial on how to charge the battery, and how to adjust my settings to what I currently have. Kind of not helpful.

I sent mine back - got a refund. Big issues with that device

Yeah, I think mine just died because of cold weather…it just stopped working, battery issues aside.
