Battery doorbell video scrambled / unviewable

The video feed as well as the recordings are scrambled. All of the troubleshooting suggestions have been tried (unsuccessfully) It’s less than a year old. Is this a hardware problem? Ideas?

It is hard to say for sure but that looks like a hardware issue, possibly even physical damage to one of the lenses. If you shine a flashlight in it, can you see any cracks etc?

I see some fine scratches and some lens clouding. The issue started with a blurry spot while viewing and on recordings and progressed to this.

OK now seeing the video that is not a physical problem, that’s electrical (internal to the camera’s electronics). It looks like someone may have hit your camera with something causing internal damage. Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything you can do to fix that cam, unless you’re comfortable taking it apart and looking for a potential loose connection. But I’m guessing that’s a damaged image sensor.

If the scratches were there and are from something else that didn’t damage it, then the other guess is some water made its way inside (maybe whatever scratched it also affected a seal). Drying it out in a bag of rice or desiccant might fix it (long shot) but if it is no longer watertight, it would only be a temp fix anyway.

Can you look back to when it started doing that to see what happened just before?

What has Wyze Support said when you contacted them? I’d be inclined to open a ticket with a pathway to replacement.

There was nothing eventful I saw as far back as my cloud would show. I did find a screen shot from June. It was just the little blurry spot then. Looking closer now I can see fine lines.

I haven’t contacted them. 8 had not considered that it may be eligible for replacement. Thanks for the suggestion.

You’re welcome. Inside a year, I’d expect this to be covered by warranty replacement. They may have you jump through a few troubleshooting steps first, but I’d be surprised if they didn’t offer to replace it for you.

Thank you both for the suggestions! I really appreciate you. My son emailed me the receipt from Amazon where he bought the camera for us. I will submit a warranty replacement request.

Good deal. When they’ve replaced things for me that I’ve ordered from Amazon (an authorized retailer), the receipt and/or order number was one of the things they asked for in documenting the replacement request. Since I’ve had that, I’ve never had any hassles with replacements. Hopefully they’ll take care of this for you.
