Does anyone else have the strange issue on their iPhone where the audio for a camera continues after closing the app? My wife and I both have to force close the app to prevent this.
Steps:
Open WYZE app, select a camera, enable the audio.
Close the app.
Observe audio stops for 2-5 seconds and then continues even though the app is closed and no video is showing.
Force close the app. Observe audio stops.
Expected: audio stops when app is closed and stays off until app is opened again.
I can’t replicate this because I don’t use iOS, but I can’t say that it surprises me because of the way the app disappointingly takes over Bluetooth audio and doesn’t give it up until I completely close the app or reboot the (Android) phone. If this is a recent development—especially if it’s something that you’ve noticed with a particular app version where you didn’t notice it before—then I’d be inclined to drop a post in that relevant app announcement topic. An app hotfix was released a few days ago, and searching #news tags:update in:title app might help you find the topic for the affected version.
Right after you reproduce the issue, I’d probably also submit a log and then open a ticket with Support referencing the Log ID to try to get it on the engineers’ radar. That really sounds like an annoying problem.
How are you closing the app ? My iPhone has a home button, if I have a camera open with the sound turned on and tap the home button it will take me back to the phone’s home page but the camera remains open and the sound will continue. If I tap the back arrow on the top left of the live view it takes me back to my favorites page of the WYZE app and turns the sound off on the camera. I have to turn the sound back on when I open the same cam again. This is on a V4 cam.
If I swipe up the view of the cam showing on the iPad same thing happens.
That is normal behaviour as the app is running in background, AKA multitasking processes. The only way out of the predicament is force closing the app. I never have more than one app running on my phone/iPad unless I need it.
Thanks for the ideas and suggestions.
Yeah, I wish I had posted this as soon as it started happening, but it started within the last few months. Likely after an update, I just don’t know which one. The odd part is I’ve disabled background app refresh from the iOS settings and it still happens. Seems like a sad thing for Apple iOS app control as well.
To close the app I swipe up on the phone (same thing as you pressing your home button.
To force close the app I swipe up and hold (same thing as double clicking your home button) and swipe up on the app.
Sounds like you have the same thing. I just find it annoying to have to specifically back out of the camera or turn off the audio before closing the app (pressing home).
