This is the issue I am facing. I have has this phone (Moto G stylus) for nearly 2 years now. It’s running Android 13. Ever since the app update it does not work on my phone. It’s downloaded, thankfully, because I had it installed prior to the update, but it doesn’t function properly. Every single day all of my Wyze products go offline and I have to reconnect them as if they are new products. This includes my thermostat. I have to set it up like it’s a brand new thermostat (including disconnecting from the wall, inputting the wiring schematics, etc) every day for my AC to turn on. I never had issues with the old version of the app. But I’m so over putting in 30 minutes of effort just to change the temperature on my thermostat or turn my lights on.
Welcome to the Forum, @kourtneyK!
What you’re describing seems like a different issue because your phone was actually able to install the update, and some users here have described problems with the in-place update, so it may be worth trying a fresh install, but before doing that you could try refreshing your app’s data:
- In the Wyze app, navigate to Account ➜ App Settings ➜ Cache File Size ➜ Clear.
- Navigate back one screen and Log Out.
- Restart your mobile device, login, and see how the app is behaving.
If that doesn’t help, then you could try something more involved:
- Uninstall the Wyze app from your phone.
- Restart your phone.
- Reinstall the Wyze app from Google Play Store so that you’re doing a fresh installation and not an in-place update. (I like to reboot my phone again after updates/new app installs. I don’t know if that’s necessary, but I do out out of habit because of the way Windows works.
)
- Log into the app and see if that has resolved the problem.
That may provide better results if what you’re experiencing actually is an app problem. If your Wyze devices are actually losing connectivity every day, then I’d wonder if your wireless access point (e.g., gateway, router, modem) is the real culprit.
Thanks for the tips! I will try this, and hopefully I actually get to redownload the app.
I don’t think it’s the router, the thermostat shows it’s connected to the wifi, but the app says it is offline. All other devices don’t respond - the app might change to say a plug is on or off, but the plug itself doesn’t change. I click submit a log to Wyze support, and nothing opens. This all started with the latest app update.
Try APK Pure on Chrome. I just did and it works fine no problems at all so far knocking wood hope this helps
it’s the 32 bit operating system is why we can’t use our phones now with the app stupid as hell why they didn’t tell us this was fixing to happen looking for another company to buy from selling my wyze cams
it wouldn’t install for me tryed that too on the apk pure site
mine is the same we have a 32 bit operating system and you have to have 64 bit for new app to work nice of them to inform us in advance support told me to get a new phone I’m leaving wyze and going with a different company idiots they are
I find it crazy and irresponsible for dropping 32-bit support. This decision will definitely reduce the customer database.
