I don’t know if these could be the problem or not but they could cause problems if set wrong. They are all under the Ipad Settings main screen. Like @rbruceporter, I haven’t tried long term monitoring On my Ipad. Will watch to see what his results show.
I don’t use Screen Time myself. But I do use Autolock and Nightshift. I turned auto lock
Off for my test. After about 7 hours with the iPad plugged in I got an series of beeps and the iPad turned off. It was hot to the touch and would not turn back on for 45 minutes.
I suspect it was over heating. But during that 7 hours it remained in the app with it running full screen on a 2 camera group.
Did almost the same test. Set mine up with Autolock off, Nightshift ofF, and Screen Time off. Ran on a single cam full screen for well over seven hours, speaker muted, plugged in with no problems. I saw your post @rbruceporter before I checked it so I double checked for heating and the Ipad was cool to the touch. Also holding full charge.
App version 2.10.8
IOS 13.4
@mnbeddow - can you verify your IOS and app versions and if the same try changing your settings to match mine, including leaving the IPad plugged in?? If you could try it that way and let us know how it works that would be great!
I suspect that folks will get different results depending on age of the iPad battery, type of charger, and relative battery health. I have a much newer iPad I can try next. But in any event the app itself did not close or hang. So I don’t think that’s the problem.
By the way NightShift should have no affect. It removes blue light when it is on but otherwise should have no effect.
@rbruceporter I have a pretty old iPad mini.
Is that the problem?
I checked recently for iOS updates, Firmware updates and App updates.
Last time I checked I was up to date, but I just checked and I am now updating to
iOS 12.4.6
and app version 2.9.56
the firmware says its up to date.
I’ll check to see if these updates change anything.
I suspect your battery is getting too old to hold a charge or recharge correctly. Lithium batteries as they age can overheat during use and charging. But to be honest I am mostly guessing here. I don’t know of any reason ios would kick you out of the app.
