Alexa Wyze Skill for Outside North America

Hello, I have the Wyze Cam Pan and am based in the UK.
Currently the Wyze Alexa skill in only available in the US store, Can this be enabled in the uk store so I can connect to my echo spot?

As European (based on Barcelona) I just support @garryseto’s petition. We’re using Wyzecam and we’re happy with this product, but we don’t understand why there is not full compatibility with Alexa or Fire Stick TV in our countries.

Please, reconsider it.

I would love to buy several wyze cams. The surge protector looks also very interesting. Only problem is that I’m in Europe …

Please start supporting non-USA customers !

I’m not sure what is holding you back. Maybe international shipping with Amazon or international AWS storage, …

Hi @WyzeGwendolyn. Wyze products are sold around the world and are listed as working with Amazon Alexa, Here is a snippet form Amazon AU site -
" * Works with Alexa: Ask Alexa to show your front door, kid’s room, or anywhere else you have your Wyze Cam"

Therefore Wyze has a obligation (legal and moral) to make this happen. Otherwise, customers have a right to feel mislead, and understandably they object having to accept a part functioning device. Perhaps we should send these back for refunds?

Anyway, it might help if you explain why it is so difficult to port an already existing US Alexa skill over to international Amazon stores? Most other tech companies don’t seem have this issue. Can we help in someway?

Hopefully @WyzeGwendolyn will be able to provide more insight. But I do know that Wyze has instructed Amazon to not sell the cameras on their international sites and Amazon has not complied. So I’m not sure we can really say this is Wyze’s fault.

Yeah… We’re not an international company yet because we’re not ready for everything that goes with it. We tried to get Amazon to limit selling our products to the US but that didn’t happen. Since they just copy the pages over, they included the portion about Alexa integration even though it isn’t applicable in that area.

We apologize for the negative experience and we understand where you’re coming from. There are several blockers for us having the Alexa skill available outside of North America but one of the bigger ones is that we would need to reduce the latency period so that it fits into Alexa’s requirements. In order to do that, we would need to have international servers and infrastructure that we’re not ready for yet.

Hi @WyzeGwendolyn,

But at least, do you have it in your road map?

We’d like to get there! Since I haven’t heard any concrete plans yet I would hesitate to say that it’s on our roadmap. It’s definitely on our radar, though.

Hi Wyze Team; congrats on finding investors that share your companies philosophy!
When I read that news, being in Ireland, Europe, I much hoped that this would move the ‘Making Alexa Skil available in EU’ onto your Road map, and hence the question if it did, and if so, if there is a rough timeline associated with that, you can share with us.

Many thanks in advance for your response and keep up the great work!

I’m pleased with the Wyze Cam as it is, but being in Europe (UK) and using a variety of Amazon Echo devices (including Echo Spot and Fire TVs), not having the Alexa skill is a barrier to my decision to buy more Wyze Cams. Please support your European users :disappointed:

Sorry @Mothman but the infrastructure needed to maintain Alexa support is not available as of right now for this to happen in other countries besides US and Canada sadly.

In case you missed it, Wyze did a video Q&A session a while ago. The subject of this #roadmap topic was addressed in the video. Here’s a link to the video and an index of the content so you can jump directly to the part that addresses this #roadmap topic.

So is this limitation based on the Amazon account itself and not where you are actually located?

I bought it on and got it shipped to AU and I can’t find the skill on the Alexa App Store? What a waste of my money.

I don’t understand why this appears to be so difficult. I bought 2 wyze cams from amazon and had them shipped to my home in the UK, Very happy with the experience so far until attempting to show the camera footage on my Fire TV.
As discussed no UK skill for Wyze, which you CAN circumvent by changing your amazon account to a USA address then enabling the skill. BEWARE tho, causes havoc with your profile and audiobooks and radio stations on switching back again.
Seemed to work fine tho initially, why cant the skill just be applied to the UK skills lists.??

I have tweeted to Wyze a few times about this and they sent me this:

That was July 2018 saying the application was in.

However I recently bought some chipolo Bluetooth finders and there was no Alexa UK support, I tweeted them and they literally enabled it the same day, looking at the Alexa developer portal it’s just a checkbox to enable the region, Although worryingly every time I search UK Alexa skills for Wyzecam, the Ismartcam skill keeps coming up as its a EU published copy of the Wyzecam.

Please make the skill available worldwide!!!

Please make this skill available worldwide including India. I have a set of 3 cams that’ll become more useful with this skill available in Indian Amazon Alexa store.

Is the skill available in Canada? Your comment suggests that it is.
