Ahh I would love to have more answers:) Just curious - have you been using Video Search to search for USPS delivery truck? How did it work for you?
I haven’t, no, but I’m not part of this pilot program nor a Cam Unlimited subscriber; however, if such a feature (i.e., AI-enabled custom notifications) became available, then I’d be more interested in subscribing.
You guys must be lucky, none of my searches yield any results. Just the other day my wife was gardening in shorts and rubber boots, and I asked the AI search to show me a woman in boots, and nothing! Looks like it is selective just like Wyze management is when they get summoned
Do you mean the suggestion box? I think it might be what’s blocking your view - try hit the “X” cross button and then you can remove it. Let me know if it’s not solving your issue.

Wait like no meaningful results at all? What other queries you have tried? Could you submit a log so we can look into it??
Does it work for you now?
Yes it does, but I find it very poor in identifying even the basic searches. Maybe it will get better in time.
- Cat color notifications (for automations about which of my cats are doing something) - ie: black cat, orange cat, grey cat.
- Specific car (color, delivery trucks, etc)
- Dog on my grass = in the front yard, turn on sprinklers so they don’t leave feces on my yard that their owners almost never pick up when they’re done.
- Not sure this is possible, but it would be nice if it could tell if there is a child without an adult in view so I could have alert me near my swimming pool, or my home office, or if my toddlers got into the kitchen or my front yard without adult supervision, etc. sometimes they’re allowed in all these places if an adult is there with them, but it would be nice if the AI could tell there is no adult with them and then alert me there’s a child without an adult in these potential concerning situations.
- Child near the stove
- Empty pet bowl (food or water)
- Package detected and in view, and unknown person comes to the door (or package is picked up/tampered with, especially by unknown person)
- Car is being tampered with (especially between certain hours)
- Mail has arrived
- Garbage truck is here, or at the neighbor’s house
- Unknown person detected (and no known person detected) automatically lock the doors
- When person detected during certain hours, turn on plug (ie: Wyze could tell when a person wakes up and start their coffee or something).
- Person falls notification, especially Elderly family member falls
- Window left open
- Water on the floor (safety issue or potential leak warning)
- Weather and environmental alerts: raining, snowing, hail, cloudy, sunny, lightning, shooting star, moon detected, plane detected, more
- Person in living room during certain hours, open the living room blinds
A lot more.
I had an idea in another topic:
I don’t know if anything like this is part of the AI Video Search roadmap, but this (present) topic seems like the place Wyze is soliciting feedback.
I searched for mail truck and it produced mostly expected results, although it did include pickup trucks driving by.
So far animal search don’t seem to return any meaningful results. Of course my cameras are not close to the ground so that may be a factor, but they do mostly trigger Pet detection.
same for deer!! I tried a rule before AI but it triggers on too many things…and often also completely misses the deer in plain sight… I have to get in and try AI with rules!!
Woooooooo thank you for sharing this!! I definitely see some are more tangible than others but the list is very, very helpful, I will share with the team, too.

I am sure some of those will be hard or not realistic at the state of the current AI, but thought I’d include them anyway.
I realize some of them aren’t things Wyze could do directly, for example, the one about opening the living room blinds wasn’t necessarily with Wyze rules since Wyze doesn’t have automatic blinds, but, what you could do is allow me to do a notification for my living room camera that if someone sits on the couch on that camera, then it will send a notification. On my side, I would tell MacroDroid to watch/intercept my notifications and when it sees a notification about person on couch in the living room between ##:## AM and ##:## PM, it will send a webhook to Home Assistant to open the blinds. So all I would need from the Wyze cam is the ability to send that notification and I can do the rest with a webhook.
Same for half of the other things. I was listing ideas of notifications I could use, and then what I would do with them…I’m not necessarily saying Wyze would implement all those things through Wyze rules when you don’t have some of those actions. You doing notifications for some of them would be sufficient. Also, the ones about something happening in a certain area is implying on a specific camera to determine it is that room, or the front yard. I don’t expect the LLM AI to know if it is looking at my front yard to know if there is a dog on the front yard. Front yard would be determined because of the camera I set the alert up on, then if it sees a dog on my grass it would send the notification, or a trigger for a dog being on my grass. Then I could have it trigger a sprinkler to spray the dog to get off my grass. It would be nice if Wyze made that work with the Wyze sprinkler zone actions, but I can also do it myself with a an Orbit B-Hyve connected to Home Assistant if I must.
The weather alerts would be pretty cool though. I’d love for a camera to alert me that it detects rain or snow or whatever, so I realize whether I need to shut some windows, or go collect some things from the yard, or pick up stuff that shouldn’t get rained on, etc. That would be useful.
Thanks for seeking feedback and listening.
@WyzeMengtingHu
In the app, the only sort option for AI search event videos is by relevance which means it may show old events I don’t care about.
Maybe I only want to know about something today. Today’s event may be dozens of “show more” clicks and scrolls away if I find it at all.
We really need date filters at a minimum to be able to limit it to certain days. I can do this on the web portal search, but not in the app. Here is the AI search filter on the web portal which is AWESOME:
I can limit the “dog” filter to specific cameras on specific days during specific times. That should be an option in the App as well. Right now some of my top relevant videos are showing me events from 2 weeks ago which are no longer relevant and I have to scroll through more than 3 dozen videos.
On the web portal, the most events I’ve had show up is 41 events (for grass) and I know that wasn’t all of the events with that detection because I counted 8 total events in that list were just for Sep 7th and 8th, then I redid the same search but instead of including the full 2 weeks, I limited it to only September 7th and 8th, and this time it showed over 17 events on just those 2 days from a single camera (none of which were included in that list of 41 events that should’ve been including all cameras in the 2 week time frame. This means that the search is deciding which events to cut off and not show us unless we can limit the filter to certain days and times. So, a date/time filter for the AI search in the app is going to be something absolutely critical for this feature.
Hi, i also have some questions about this new function.
Maybe someone else has asked.
Is this AI internal to Wyze, or is it another AI API that Wyze is using? If an API, who is the source AI?
Is i use this function, may my video data used for AI training? All all my videos saved to cloud being used to train?
Is there any note to show how it works? @WyzeMengtingHu Thanks.
Thank you for the suggestion and observing the web and app differences! We decided to use existing capability and components of web so that’s why you are seeing the sort & filter feature on web earlier than on app - that being said, the sort & filter is definitely on our roadmap. -Mengting
Thank you so much for the questions!! We use in-house AI & none of your videos will be used for model training unless you provide your consent and voluntarily submit your videos to Wyze.
I have been on conversations with team around this list. I think some are actually quite approachable now than others - like vehicle (garbage truck/ USPS), dog on lawn, and empty pet bowl maybe? It would be quite cool if we can test something together and see if the notifications can help you automate your home ecosystem;)
Hello everyone, I have a message from our friend @WyzeMengtingHu (she made the last 3 messages so it will not let her post).
Happy Halloween everyone! Maybe some of you have already found out that your events have been “hunted” by a very, very evil pumpkin… Try search “Trick-or-Treat” or “Halloween costumes” to discover more things spooky!!
