I’ve been dying for this feature for years now! I own both locks and it would be amazing if the bolt lock was actually a smart lock, not just a replacement for a key.
My wife is getting to the point where she’s asking me to start looking at another company.
Unfortunate, we’ve had wyze for years and pay for monthly monitoring on top of camera upgrades for all 6 of our cameras and sensors and what ever else we have from them.
If they can’t figure this out soon, I have a feeling a lot people might be heading to other brands.
Some kind of bridge to make it Wi-Fi capable – I would have these on all my Airbnbs If I could remotely adjust access settings. Unfortunately, I’m gonna have to switch a couple back to Yale because it’s too inconvenient to have to be within Bluetooth range to make adjustments.
I mean it’s 2024 – how in the world does the lock bolt have zero Internet connectivity?
Wyze Lock Bolt rule for locking door when activating Away setting
It would be great to have the Lock Bolt show up in the list of items for making a rule for Away settings.
Thanks for considering this.
[Mod Note]:Rules (Shortcuts, Schedules, Triggers, Location Triggers) are stored to and executed from the cloud via the Internet. Wyze Lock Bolt is not an Internet-connected IOT device. Lock Bolt was purpose-built to satisfy users’ security concerns and requests for a non-IOT deadbolt lock with local-only (Bluetooth) smart features.
This wishlist topic was created by the forum community requesting gateway support to provide Lock Bolt Internet connectivity. This would be required in order for Lock Bolt to make use of rules.
This rules-related user request has been merged to this topic to ensure Lock Bolt-related rules are considered and included during the design, development and testing of a Lock Bolt gateway solution.
I would like to see the Wyze Auto-Lock Bolt offered with Wi-Fi. The current model is Bluetooth only, but would be awesome if I could control the lock remotely with Wi-Fi. Would be really helpful to add/remove codes or expire codes to manage rental properties. Yale, Quikset, and Schlage all offer these types of locks.

Please DO NOT ADD WIFI TO THE LOCK BOLT!! Lol. I can’t get over all the commentary on “please add wifi… to an INTENTIONALLY NON-WIFI device.” If you want WiFi on your lock… buy the Wyze Lock. Do Not Buy the Wyze Lock Bolt… and don’t change it to be the Wyze Lock. Not having WiFi on the lock securing my home is fantastic and vastly preferred. I don’t want a mechanical keypath, I don’t want WiFi, and the Bluetooth, well - you gotta config it somehow but you would need to be standing on my front doorstep, which spoils the surprise.
Just don’t - leave the Lock Bolt alone. Go buy a Wyze Lock, good to go, everyone wins.
It’s not about adding it to the product itself but allowing us to use the bridge FROM the Wyze Lock to be able to make it WiFi capable as an option. They are different products but the Wyze Deadbolt Lock looks much better and some assumed (I know all about assumptions) that it was an upgraded version of the lock not a different product so giving the option of bridging the gap between them would be nice.
We’re NOT asking them to change the Bolt to add WiFi, we’re requesting them to add the ability to use a Lock Gateway IF DESIRED to control the Bolt
There is ZERO places where a Wyze Lock replaces a Lock Bolt… because they operate completely differently… the Bolt lets me completely remove the existing deadbolt (from the outside) which eliminates the key-picking weakness.
There’s also ZERO cost/risk to anyone that only wants Bluetooth, because it would only have extra functionality IF AND ONLY IF we connected to a Gateway.
STOP TELLING US WE’RE WRONG for requesting additional features. It’s none of your business.
Wyze is also whacko for not adding a gateway as well. People have been asking for it for years.
Incredibly lame that they added functionality to the doorbell to accomplish this. Fact is, I have more than one door to my home and none of them have or need a doorbell…
I’m in the process of dumping all my Wyze gear because they have little Wyzedom. Eufy cameras work well and are much faster than Wyze. They also don’t require cloud storage and added fees.
Hey. Ya. So maybe you can help me out then: I bought this awesome pickup truck, but the handling and acceleration sucks because it isn’t a sports car. I want the company to change the pickup truck I bought to drive more like the sports car I wanted or I’m leaving the company and buying someone else’s pickup truck. How should I word that totally reasonable demand so I dont sound conpletely ridiculous?
After 25 years of driving Toyotas, I dumped Toyota 5 years ago bc I couldn’t get CarPlay in a Tundra. Imagine that, the one option that makes all the
difference on an $75k vehicle. It’s about that simple.
Wyze started down the path of low cost cameras, then they came out with a ridiculous remote co trolled toy car that carries a camera. What consumer who is looking for security is interested a remote car. Then, they sell a cordless vacuum that can be bought for less on Amazon made by the same contract manufacturer under a different brand.
In spite of all of this silliness, success comes by listening to your customer. They do not. Wyze don’t even communicate their screwups or try to sell customers an upgraded version of the product than needs revision. The whole lock issue was very misleading up front bc their followers were clamoring for more of their products and nobody would have dreamed they would loose functionality. On top of this, they put no research into evolving their app… They don’t understand how important the interface is.
They have no clue what they are doing… very poor product management. Oh but wait, might they doing all this on purpose….
You don’t seem to understand that the Lock Bolt and the Wyze Lock are two completely different setups, and we aren’t asking for them to change, we are asking for an additional, optional feature. Using your analogy, we aren’t asking for sports car features on a pickup truck. We are asking for an optional truck bed cover to be made available. If people don’t want the cover, they don’t have to use it, but it is available for those who want it. I literally can’t use the Wyze lock because it goes over an existing deadbolt, and I don’t have existing deadbolts. I would have to buy deadbolts first, and then buy Wyze locks to go over them. Ooooor…I am asking if I can buy a gateway to Lock Bolt to have the functionality I need.
Why is it ridiculous to ask Wyze to make a product that their competitors like Yale and Kwikset already offer? Wyze literally created this message board for their customers to make product requests/suggestions exactly like this one, they even call it a wish list. This also saves Wyze a ton of money on R&D because most businesses pay big dollars to marketing firms to survey customers, etc. to basically get the same information.
The wyze lock doesn’t have the keypad attached to it. I realize they have a separate keypad…great…now I have 2 separate items I have to keep batteries in. That was why I liked the lock bolt. Everything else has WiFi gateway capability. I never expected this wouldn’t.
Would like to see the Lock Bolt to connect to the Wyze gateway
When will the Lock Bolt be able to connect to the Wyze Lock Gateway?

I agree, this should be given especially since all other smart locks like this have that feature. If it’s a security concern then it should be an option to lock remotely in settings. You can toggle on or off and can be off by default with a warning.
Many folks purchased the Lock Bolt, not realizing the unit could not talk to the app, except locally on bluetooth. Shame on us for not reading the fine print. How about creating a Wifi gateway that transmits the bluetooth codes to the lock bolt to allow us to have remote access.
Initial offering the sent out last year was very misleading about only being bluetooth. Call it a fix or upgrade, but make the unit accessible via wifi on the app. How hard should it be for them to create a gateway that talks to the app and transmits the bluetooth command?
