My homeowner’s insurance company has now mandated that I have smoke/fire monitoring as well as monitored security. If Wyze cannot add this additional service by the time my subscription renews in August 2023, I will unfortunately need to unsubscribe and look for an alternative solution which would be a shame as I like the existing monitored security solution. Thank you for your consideration!
All major home monitoring service has CO2 sensors. Co2 sensors will be a great add for the home monitoring services
[MOD NOTE: post moved to this #wishlist topic for consolidation. Please scroll up to the top and VOTE.]
Let us not make this too difficult for Wyze. Lots of great things to add, but lets start with simply passing the existing smoke detector alerts from the cameras to Noonlight. My guess is that Noonlight will charge more for this service, so Wyze has to decide if people will pay more or if more people will pay. My guess is yes, but if they do not fix this, my next camera and equipment will not be Wyze, because they are acting like a company supplying cheap cameras instead of the security company they could be.
Very well said. Agree !!
Add Fire and CO sensors
Need to add real CO and fire sensors to the home monitoring system.
They don’t need to make sensors, which is a big approval process. All they need to do is listen for alarms from sensors that exist.
Smoke or fire are only camera features from a camera. Which means that when you added a certain device as a security camera to your Home Monitoring system, this will not notify our Noonlight dispatching team since Home Monitoring service is based on their sensors and does not use camera feeds/features to send signals to Noonlight.
I was disappointed to learn this as well - my homeowners insurance won’t give me a discount unless there is central station monitoring for smoke/fire as well as burglar. Grrrrrr.
Exactly! My homeowners insurance will only give me a discount if I have both central station monitoring for burglar and smoke/fire so no discount for now. I am going to ask how much the discount would be and if it’s significant I’m going to ditch Wyze and switch to a different company. I really want to have all of my smart home stuff in Wyze but they sure are making it hard! Grrrrrrrrrr.
My home insurance wouldn’t even cover me unless I had both security and fire.
After looking around a lot, I found that it’s close to impossible to find a single vendor that does both, at a cost anywhere near to what Wyze offers.
In the end (after trying another vendor that wasn’t a good experience), I went with X-Sense only for fire monitoring, alongside Wyze for security. The X-Sense devices aren’t expensive, nor is their monitoring service which is is also through Noonlight.
If Wyze gets their act together over fire monitoring then I’ll certainly be onboard. I’m sure they could partner with a vendor who’s already in the game which would be a faster/simpler route to market.
Its 10% discount from what i have heard
Exactly I wasn’t to pleased when I canceled my old system for this one just to find out I loose all of my discounts with my insurance because of it.
I would love to change my home monitoring system from Xfinity. I cannot do so until Wyze also includes fire monitoring with the local fire department. Is that in the works?
Probably a future feature
Probably not this year. This year they are committed to focussing on their main foundation of cameras and the things they already have out (with only a couple of exceptions). I expect that they may reconsider this in 2024, but I wouldn’t expect it for at least a year.
Add fire alarm monitoring to current system
My homeowners insurance is not worried about burglary, but smoke/fire, and as such the discount offered for a monitored alarm system that does not include monitoring for smoke/fire/CO is nominal.
Abode offers a device that (like the Wyze Cams) listens for the chirp patterns of the smoke detectors and dispatches the fire service. Its a shame that this isn’t available as part of the HMS.
I agree - hoping we get enough owners to speak up about this issue so Wyze will put it at the top of their list.
Thanks for the link to Abode - That may be the solution if Wyze doesn’t wise-up.
After ordering my wyze system to add onto the other 13 cameras i already have, i expected to have CO/Smoke alarm notifications as part of the monitoring services.
I even contacted noonlight to have the certificate updated to reflect that i had cameras with this “feature” listed in the monitoring section of the app.
They have sent me back here to this thread as a result of the failed inquiry “clarification” about the wyze service.
So clearly noonlight isn’t the gap and Wyze needs to step up with an update to allow monitoring.
Where is the roadmap for implementation?
[I’m now off to gap-fill their solution with another provider which takes money out of my pocket but doesn’t result in wyze getting any more of it. ]
