While the temperature sensor would be cool, @mike.s , I would be happy with just the water leak sensor and would buy at least 6 of them.
Temp would be nice, but I donāt need it as much just the leak sensor. I would buy at least 7 of them. @mike.s
Iām good with two separate sensors.
A water sensor for Wyze Sense would be great.
Something that could be placed on the ground next to a water pump, or under pipes that would send a notification would be quite useful.
Hi Shaq,
I am very interested in converting this little module youāve shown into a water sensor.
Would you plesae provide more detailed info or the link where more details are shown.
Thanks in advanced.
Vincent
@mike.s , I would go for separate.
I can see the use of the thermometers, but I think that those would work better as AC plug-in devices given how often temperatures change (unless they used a mercury, or physical trigger that changed with the temperature, rather than relying on a running connection? Even then, calibrating them to āunder 38 degreesā (You donāt want them to go off right when it reaches freezing, but a bit above still) could be tricky with that in such inexpensive devices? Maybe? Anyways, Iād say keep them separate.
For the water sensor, I was trying to think of a good design that could both be used to detect water from above, or below.
What if it was a flat surface that if water got onto it, it triggered the sensor. But it had posts on the corners sticking āupā, so that you could turn it up-side-down and if water became standing-water high enough to reach the contact, it would go off as well.
Iāve been looking for this for a long time. I created something that worked using an Arduino but could never get it to send a notification via email. This would be a huge help to anyone who routinely leaves a house unattended for a period of time. Even if you shut off the main water supply, there are toilet tanks that can leak, a water heater that can leak, or a condensate pump for a heating system that can fail/leak.
I have 10 Insteon water leak sensors, itās the only reason why I have Insteon. Today I found yet another hub that died on me in the last 3 years⦠Please, we need a Wyze leak detector! Iāll replace all mine in a heartbeat⦠I donāt want to buy another Insteon hub
Just had an incident where a leak sensor would have been handy. But honestly never thought much about them. Probably wouldnāt have bought one before. But now I want like 8 of them.
Voted.
@wyze can we have a status update on this? Any progress?
This #wishlist topic is currently in āresearchingā and it will have to move to #roadmap āin-developmentā before we see any progress.
I do want this, but for now I am using a Wyse cam and motion sensor with hopes that it will detect any major leaks.
I would buy one to put under every faucet and toilet in the house if they are priced right, like the door/window sensors.
Iām wondering how this still has not been added to the road map for future Wyze products. Folks have been requesting these for most of 2019, and Wyze has asked questions of those posting in this string. Yet we see nothing coming from the company. This would be a product that could save your customers thousands in repairs, and tons of frustration.
Come on Wyze team, please get these going.
It is still in the researching phase, they are still working on it.
Which is odd why it is still in a researching phase. We have a couple commenters above that actually created a working product based on the Wyze Contact Sensors already.
There isnāt much to research at this point, beyond price and what wires to use and how long they should be.
To be honest, I am shocked they havenāt gotten them out yet. It seemed like a no-brainer when this topic was brought up, and demos made back in what, May? June?
Yes, you have to go through certs, and various other thingsā¦
But I figured after them putting out the 2 (Contact/Motion) sensors, they would want to follow up quickly with a number of other ones, (temp sensor, water sensor, etc) to really nail down their market of āSensors for the Homeā.
The delays are definitely strange, that is for sure.
I would definitely use a water sensor. I hope this will actually get some traction. A water sensor would actually be more valuable to me than any camera, plug, or door sensor.
I would also buy a few of these.
Is it enough to have the 2 wire terminals for closing the circuit? Or something like this is truly necessary (as I have see in youtube)?
Thanks!
Also, together with the sensor I think a shut-off valve goes hand in hand⦠Does anyone have a good suggestion on it?
This is very nice (in features) awful in price: https://meetflo.com/products/flo-home-water-system/
This is non intrusive but I have no idea of reliability: Electronic Smart Valve Garden Water Timers WIFI Irrigation Controller Watering System Automatic Gas Valve Home Automation

Also, it must be integrated with IFTTT for it to work I imagine. I appreciate feedback from experience.
Thanks!
