Add a loud Siren (also integrated with HMS)

Hi WyzeRyan,

To clarify, when you set the alarm, or enter the home when the alarm is set, and have 60 seconds to get out the door or turn off the alarm, the siren should not trigger if as you are tripping motion and door sensors on the way out the door or to the alarm pad. I would assume that the trigger on alarm only happens when the alarm is set (which it isn’t during entry/exit delays). Can you confirm this is the case during your testing?

Also, what is the scenario you are testing when you say Entry Delay as a Trigger is now available?

I appreciate your thorough testing. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be a beta.

Just ran some tests on the Entry Delay as a Trigger. It is working, however I am experiencing some serious delays w\ rule execution. One test was well over a minute late.

This message is for Ryan. Would you please send me the basic steps to integrate my V3 Camera Siren with my Wyze Home Security System Siren. I was told once I downloaded the Beta app this could be done. Something in the Beta App won’t allow me to do thi. Thanks

I sent you a message explaining why I cannot integrate the V3 Camera Siren with my Security System Siren using the Beta app. I requested the basic steps to accomplish this. Can you provide some simple steps for me?

I can confirm that is how my rules are operating.

I have rules for my Wyze Plug\Sirens, Cam Sirens, Wyze Plug\Floodlights, & Wyze Light Groups to be triggered on Detects an Alarm. They do not trigger during the entry or exit delay countdown when a door is opened. Only if a sensor opens after the delay countdown ends and the system has armed.

These are the triggers. The actions you build into your rules will be executed when the selected trigger below occurs.

You need to be on the current Beta App and your Hub needs to be on the updated Firmware.

  • Go to the Account Tab
  • Click Rules
  • Click the + in the upper right
  • Click on Device & Service Trigger
  • Click on Name and name it whatever you want
  • Click on Device & Service Trigger
  • Select the HMS from the top of the list. It will show as a Wyze Badge named whatever you named it in the Home Monitoring “Home Information” Settings.
  • Select “Detects an Alarm” (see note below)
  • Click Save
  • Click Add Action
  • Find and select the cam you want for the siren (see note below)
  • Click Turn On the Siren
  • Click Save
  • Click Save

Done.

Note: it is the same steps to build rules to do other tasks for all the triggers in the screenshot above. You can build rules to be triggered by any of these triggers. Every different trigger has to have it’s own rule. Rules can have only one trigger.

Note: you can continue adding actions into a rule by clicking the plus sign on add action so that one trigger can do many things. If you want more cams to siren, or lights to come on, or plugs to come on, add them into the same rule. Cams are also capable of multiple actions under the trigger. Each cam must be added as an action seperately for sirens.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I FINALLY got it to work thanks to you. There is a few second delay before the 2 V3 Camera Sirens turn on and off. I can live with that. Both Camera and the hub are on the 1st floor of my home. In order to make certain we hear the siren on the 2nd floor bedrooms, would you suggest that we install a V3 Camera on the 2nd level?? I can’t thank you enough for helping me.

It does take some time for the server to initiate the rule and for it to execute after the alarm triggers.

That is one option. Cost and purpose are things I would consider. Do you need it to record video? If not, a Wyze Plug and a screaming loud siren can probably be installed for about the same cost. Cam sirens time out and stop and aren’t that loud.

I am not concerned about having a camera video on the second level just a siren so we can hear it. I know how to order the plug. Not a plug in siren. I have Amazon Prime. If it’s not too much to ask of you…could you please recommend a siren for me?? I’m not a technical person,so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

I use this siren indoors. It does require the seperate purchase of a power supply and will require wiring since the siren is wired depending on the tone you want to hear.

If you aren’t comfortable connecting two low voltage wires to the siren and the adapter that comes with the plug, you might want to look for a siren that is pre-wired.

SlapSlayer, you seem to be the resident expert on hooking up sirens to work with the HMS. I have an installed ADEMCO No. 705 siren (4 ohms) that was part of my previously installed (at construction) that I thought I might hook up to the HMS. However, I have no specs on this thing and I’m not even sure if it is 12 vdc or 24 vdc or if it requires some other circuit board to make it functional. Two questions - any thoughts on using this and how to hook it up to work? 2nd question, I have no problem connecting 2 low voltage wires to a siren - what I don’t understand from your comment “to the adapter that comes with the plug” What is this? Thanks.

I have a siren in the attic and the nice thing about it is that neighbors can here it and be alerted as well. Having a siren inside may not attract the attention you might want.

This is something that he mentiones. It comes with the plug to wire the siren to the plug and then connect the plug to the adapter. After this is done, just add the wyze plug and set everything up. I use also a blue probe on the same plug that i install the wire of the siren. 12v cable are so slim that you can add easy the siren and probe in one plug.

It looks like you actually have an Ademco 703 Siren Driver Module that regulates the Ademco 705 Howlers. It looks to be a 6V DC system.

From what I can tell, the howlers cannot differentiate between a Warble tone or a Steady tone. The Siren Driver Module is the brains to make this happen. You can try to power them direct, but I’m not sure what will happen.

The Siren Driver Module and the Howler Sirens operate on independant power supplies. The Siren Driver Module = 6V DC between 15-20ma. The Howlers = 6V DC @ 1.5a

The Howlers can be powered from a 6V DC 1.5A wall wart power adapter wired to lugs 1 and 2 rather than from the installed alarm system. The Howler Sirens should already be wired to lugs 3 and 4.

A Wyze Plug should be able to be used as the trigger if you can find a 6V DC 15-20ma wall wart power adapter to power the Siren Driver Module. There are three wires on the module for Steady, Common, & Warble. The common gets hooked to the (-) of the power adapter and either the Steady or Warble to the (+) of the power adapter depending on your choice of tone. That power adapter will be plugged into the Wyze Plug.

What should happen is that when the plug is turned on, the Siren Driver Module will then activate power regulation to the Howlers to produce the tone… In theory.

The power adapter I linked comes with a terminal adapter so that you can wire a 5mm female barrel power plug to the siren and just plug the 5mm male barrel plug from the power adapter into it. No splicing that way.

I also have a second siren in the gable vent of my garage powered by a second Wyze Plug and the same Power Adapter.

However, I am very disappointed in my neighbors and\or the local PD.

A week or so ago, when I was testing the new rules and transitioning from my previous rules setup, I made the mistake of cutting power to a plug when it was on. My old rule setup armed on a longer exit delay to make sure I was out before the motion detectors set off the sirens. I was already driving down the road when it armed and returned that plug to the On state, blasting the siren.

That was 7:15 am. I wasn’t alerted to this false siren until just before noon when all my cams started Person Alerting simultaneously because the cops came knocking. As soon as I opened the live stream I heard the siren and immediately shut the plug down. They turned around and walked away shaking their heads. It went off for 5 hours before any cops showed up. I live in a very residential area.

I have since created rules to upload videos when the siren plugs activate so I am immediately notified and also have select cams listening for sound.

I have a honeywell Wave 2 siren, and I ordered a Wyze smart plug. If I figure out how to connect these two, can I connect them to the Wyze Home Security System using the steps you gave me???

Thanks for that. I think where this leaves me is to hook my Wyze Cam OG (with its siren) to a smart plug. I can at least have it in a location where I can just plug it in. The other option of adapter and siren in the location I was planning will take cutting into a 110 line and installing a plug box inline. I have no accessible plugs where my old siren is located. Do you have any idea of the relative volume of the Honeywell Wave-2 vs the OG siren?
