I agree with what @carverofchoice has said. I would love it to be self monitored without a subscription as well. If it costs WYZE to offer professional services through Noonlight (which it does)…and if that’s something I need, then I would absolutely pay for it. I love WYZE and want them to succeed. However, my plan was to wait for their home monitoring solution to come out and monitor myself without paying for the Noonlight services simply because I live in a fairly low risk area. In another thread a forum moderator asked in the background and gave me the following response:
I then asked him to confirm whether or not the hardware then essentially becomes useless i.e., no “Modes” or keypad to arm the system (other than the hub connecting the sensors up), and he hasn’t responded…but I don’t see how any of that could be used without the Monitoring tab to control it.
I totally hope they will open up the HMS to be used without Noonlight for free, but as @carverofchoice mentions, they have been mentioning that there will be a fee with it from the beginning. I’m still hopeful they’ll open it up for free, but if not, I’ll just then have to decide if it’s actually worth having that service and hardware or if I should just go back to using their sensors in the Classic WYZE App to turn notifications on when my whole family leaves and turn them off when the first person arrives using the Google Home app and a WYZE switch.
